I've given up the main hustle to self publish my book 'The Smallest War'. Writing and publishing is easy, marketing not so much. The main hustle is looking easier by the minute.

I live in Western Australia with my family. It's deep in the bleak of winter at the moment (well, you know, comparatively speaking: its 12 degrees Celsius at 10.00am with an expected high of 17 degrees).

Thank you for reading. Reply or message me directly if you want chat.

William Stypowany | 1 comments Hello, thank you for having me in your group. I have just published on Amazon my first novel, Goliath: Hiding in Plain Sight. It's about a bagman/hitman, Sam Mariani, who is offered a new form witness protection by the feds, but instead of a new identity, and through the miracle of modern science, they transport him into a new body. Things start to unravel, though, when through an accident, the body he is supposed to occupy after the switch is nowhere to be found, and he winds up in the body of super smart police dog, Goliath. The search is on to find Sam as Sam desperately tries to return to his normal self.
To receive a FREE Kindle edition, just email me your request. All I ask in return is for you to post an honest, positive review on Amazon when you have finished reading Goliath.
Thanks in advance.

message 2427: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Hey. I'm Jeff.

I read as much as I can in the time I can find for it (I work full time and I'm trying to raise kids and be an active member of my community) and I've started writing reviews of every book I finish.

I just don't have a lot of active Goodreads friends so sometimes I feel like I'm writing these reviews for the void. I thought this might be a good group to help me find a more active Goodreads community.

Happy to read books authors on here write but I don't really read digital content (I'm in front of a computer at work all day and want to get away from screens in my downtime) and I don't hand out four and five star reviews lightly (so I never rate my real-life friends' books).

I don't put the books that I didn't like on goodreads cause It affects book's rating. I am always talking about the books I loved.

Acar Murat | 1 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Murat (full name Acar Murat Boyner) and I am new here!
My first short novel was recently published by Assure Press and I'm hoping to meet new people on this platform.

My novel explores the rise of tyrants. The focus of interest is not so much the tyrant, but how people allow these figures to rise to power. (intentionally and/or unintentionally)
Tyranny is not only the doing of one, but the enabling of many.

I would love to know what you think! If you enjoy it, please consider leaving a review.

Best wishes to you all!

Murat :)

Catherine Douglas I'm Catherine. I've started a historical fantasy series called Snows of War, with part 1 titled White Raven.

The story follows a Conjurus--a race of people with the ability to control magical elements--being recruited into the OSS during World War II. Jay Loalin is an ice-variant of the Conjurus, and a former Antarctic explorer, whose father was killed during World War I, while using magic in front of a German platoon. Jay's first mission involves stopping an SS officer who had witnessed his father's magic 24 years prior, and was inspired to study the magic of both Conjurus and witches in order to create the perfect German.

The story, and the series as a whole, prioritizes character development while also bringing back the exciting feel of older adventure stories, taking the reader to fascinating faraway places, and extensive research was done to craft an accurate depiction of wartime events, real-life figures, and period technology.

Jim Shanahan | 2 comments Hi, I'm Jim. I enjoy reading fantasy, sci-fi, some historical non-fiction, and occasionally horror or humorous stories.

I have published my first novel, an epic fantasy standalone 400 page novel just last month. It is called "The Serpent of Time"

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B6S6DV2R

It is a fantasy quest / epic adventure maybe in the vein of the film Krull or The Hobbit.

I hope that by sharing it here, people may discover and enjoy the story. If I receive a positive review, that would be a bonus. But either way, it is interesting for me to receive feedback as I have not had any ARC or beta readers before publishing.

I hope some of you can enjoy my book. I included fantasy maps which I illustrated myself.
Thanks and best wishes to everyone.

Maria Bouroncle | 26 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Maria Bouroncle and I’m a Swedish writer of true crime living in Washington DC. My debut “It Came to Me on a Whim – The Story of Ingeborg Andersson, Child Murderess” was recently published in English and this fall it will be used on the Scandinavian Crime Literature course at UCLA.

It Came to Me on a Whim tells the story of my great-aunt who killed her three children at the age of twenty-seven in 1929. Through exhaustive research, I’ve strived to shed light on what led up to this tragedy, which had been a tightly guarded family secret for over seventy years.

“Maria Bouroncle takes us deep into a story of real-life murder to show us the humanity – even love – behind the crime. A riveting read – haunting, atmospheric, and ultimately, heart-breaking”, writes Manil Suri, author of bestseller The Death of Vishnu.

If anyone is interested in writing a review, I’d be happy to send you a PDF version!

All the best, Maria

Hello all! I just started using GoodReads this year and, since getting my MA in English Lit, falling in love with reading for fun again. I devour pretty much any type of romance and for the past couple weeks have been reading 4-5 books a week. I would love to get more into book reviewing and helping with ARCs. As someone who has needed to rediscover what books I enjoy, I think I could have a strong reviewing voice for others who are looking to reconnect with reading and disappear into a book for an afternoon. Happy to be apart of this group:)

Catherine Taughinbaugh | 6 comments Here is my review of Maria's book: Maria Bouroncle's book is well-written about her family's heartbreaking tragedy at the turn of the century. It Came to Me on a Whim holds the reader's interest throughout the book and is well-researched. While devasting for the family, it is a fascinating story that sheds light on the mental health and penal system of that time and how complicated mental health issues can be. I recommend It Came to Me on a Whim! ~ Catherine Taughinbaugh, author of The Compassion Antidote
