Alex Vogel (alex_vogel) | 1 comments I'm Alex, the author of 'Four Darks', a gay-themed contemporary/literary (and explicit) coming-of-age novel.
The Paperback edition is out now. Reviews very welcome.
The ebook is available for free via Kindle Unlimited.

Four Darks by Alex Vogel

A cruel father, a twisted affair with an older man, and a mysteriously missing mother send sixteen-year-old Jack on a fateful journey exploring obsession, the will to survive and the desperate wish to belong.

On his birthday, in an effort to escape his sadistic father, Jack wanders frozen London—and encounters an intriguing stranger. The man feels like the perfect present, a glimmer of hope at just the right time. But as he falls for the much older James, a toxic game of courtship and rejection plunges Jack down an unsettling path...

"Captivating, Powerful, Emotional, and Beautiful."
Amazon Review

"The story is gripping, disturbing, and heartbreaking and at the same time it leaves the reader inspired by Jack’s perseverance. The book evokes a tremendous amount of emotion and deals with some weighty topics but left me with a sense of utter hopefulness. The characters are diverse, compelling, flawed and utterly human. The author leads us on an experience that delves into abuse, longing, desperation, cruelty, identity, and fate. And he does so with humor, a touch of sexiness, and compassion."

Anna Garnet | 3 comments Hi everyone! Really excited to join the group.
I'm Anna, a very avid reader of fantasy and YA, and I very recently published my first children's book! It's for ages of around 5-8.

It's a fantasy/magic story called The Seasons: Story of Spring, and tells the story of siblings Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn, who have magical powers to change the seasons. The story follows Winter, Summer and Autumn as they travel around the magical world of Lunora, through kingdoms of plants and space and try and find their missing sister Spring in time for springtime to begin.

The book is out on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Seasons-Spring...), and the ebook version will be free today and tomorrow! If you would like to check it out and leave a review on here or on the Amazon page, I would really appreciate it :)

Hello Megan!
My name is Alex and I'm a new author who would love a review for my debut novel! Taliesin, Chief of Bards is a story about a boy in medieval Wales who was adopted into a kingdom built on the floor of the sea. When Taliesin's guardian gets captured by a rival king, it's up to him to discover his mysterious gifts in order to save his family and kingdom from total war. The book was based on the legend behind the 6th century bard/poet Taliesin. If you have the time and interest please let me know and I would be happy to send you a free PDF copy. Thank you so much!

Laura, if you're interested in a quick, absorbing read, I've got a novella ready to go. FYI, I'm on this thread already seeking reviews...

SOMEBODY KNOWS SOMETHING begins with a child's disappearance 20 years before. Now, two strangers, Ginger and Daniel, grapple with the truth about what happened that day: Ginger feels compelled to uncover the truth and Daniel is desperate to keep it buried.

The narrative is pretty much told through Ginger and Daniel; so different, and both are tethered to the tragic story of Olive, an innocent little kid who went out to play one day and fell off the face of the earth.

I will provide a pdf or e-pub file, sent via email, in exchange for an honest and thoughtful review. Please let me know, and thank you very much.

K.K. Edwards

And fyi, if you (or anybody reading this) want to know a little bit more about my writing process, etc., please feel free to visit my author interview here: https://www.indienovella.co.uk/post/k...

message 2350: by K D (new)

K D | 1 comments I’m a new reviewer to this group, and a goodreads member for 12 years or so. I love writing reviews, and usually read goodread reviews when choosing a book.

My favorite genres are pretty stable:

nonfiction : biography, history, science, nature, psychology ;

fiction: mystery, crime, suspense, Southern fiction, historical fiction, on and on.
it’s easier to say what I don’t usually read: science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

Some current favorite authors include Jhumpa Lahiri, Ian Rankin, Elizabeth George, Ken Follett, Alexander McCall-Smith and, very new, Amor Towles. Some older, but still recent, favorites are Robert Parker, Julie Spencer-Fleming, Lilian Braun, and Diane Mott Davidson.

When rating books, four stars means an excellent, highly recommended book, five stars is reserved for excellent, outstanding reads, contributions to literature.

Some authors, such as Alexander McCall-Smith, are fun, entertaining, satisfying reads, but in most cases, not serious literature (such as would be offered in an academic course.) I like nothing better than to binge read; I enjoy authors who provide reliable, interesting characters and stories. Of course, there are those authors, such as Agatha Christie, who can fit in both categories, or better yet, cannot be neatly categorized.

Why do I exclude science fiction, horror, and fantasy. Reality is hard enough without distorting it.
