Goodreads Reviewers' Group discussion
New to the group? Introduce yourself here (3)

Mathematician, programmer, nerd, martial artist, author, husband, and cat dad here.
I'm new to the writing scene with one publication in my belt and another in the coming months. I prefer high/dark fantasy, horror, and humor, and have done what I can to get a good mix of that in my books. After finishing the third book in my opening trilogy, I have a sci-fi/steampunk stand-alone book in mind to place in the same universe as my current magic worlds.
Self-publishing is hard work, getting my name out there and people aware of my content. I'm always looking for beta readers and ARC reviewers.

Name's Reign. People call me R. Feel free to check my reviews and my 2021 Book Reviews in my Medium site in my profile.
Nice to meet you all!

Phil, My reason for writing was born out of frustration but does involve a quirky idea and ordnance. Maybe we could read each other's work and offer some feedback?

I'm Abigail! (They/them) Long-time reader and writer, and lover of all things Victorian-ish (Victorian and the briefer time periods surrounding it) and cottagecore. Also POC and LGBTQ+ so we live for some good rep. I started publishing my reviews this year, in addition to making a bookstagram (check out my profile for reviews and a link to my IG). I'm also publishing a book of poetry this year, so I'm looking forward to that too!
Hi! My name is Crane (she/her), and I’ve only been on Goodreads for about a year. Recently, I’ve started getting into reviewing books especially in the YA, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance and LGBTQ+ genres mainly on my blog (link in my bio) and on Goodreads, and I hope to share my thoughts on different books and maybe spread my love for reading with more people as well :D If you are an author of a book/books that fall under above-mentioned genres, I would love to get the chance to review them :)) Thank you for reading, and have a great day ahead ☀️

Best!

I'm Tom Lyons, a 3 times published author. My 4th novel, titled Grumpy Old Man, will be published later this year, 2021. I will be advertising and asking for reviews and I'm willing to review other authors books as well.
Here is a brief synopsis of Grumpy Old Man. Thanks for taking a look.
Tom
Grumpy Old Man is a hilarious satire on modern day life in the East Bay Area of San Francisco. (Think Carl Hiaasen writing about California, not Florida) It’s also a perplexing murder mystery that takes place during, and just after, the Pandemic.
When millionaire land owner Ramsay Marshall turns up dead in Lake Tahoe waters, his daughter, Sophia, suspects foul play. She hires Palmer Doyle, a disabled Afghan War veteran turned private investigator and his oddball crew of PI’s.
Sophia and Palmer have history. Fifteen years ago, in Afghanistan, when Palmer was injured in a mysterious bomb explosion, Sophia was the Army trauma nurse who pieced Palmer back together. There was a spark between them then, but both are married.
Now, years later, both of their spouses are deceased; Sophia and Palmer are single and the spark between them is alive and aflame. Palmer, enamored with Sophia and to help win her favor, is determined to find out what happened to her father.
Grumpy Old Man is fast paced suspense thriller, chocked full of humor and odd ball plot twists that will keep you glued to the very last page.
The novel is approx. 100K words. The manuscript is finished and polished having gone through several rounds of professional beta reads and editing. It’s also primed to be a series.

I published my debut book TTEO Take The Emotion Out last month on Amazon. I am on a steep learning curve getting my head around the marketing aspect and of course obtaining reviews. Thanks for having me!

So I wanted to connect with you all. I'm keen to find any non-fiction on climate change, net zero, or environmental issues which people are reading - I'm always looking to add to my reading list.
And if anyone wants any recommendations on Climate change books on a particular topic - I have made my way through 150 and counting so just give me a shout out!!!
Looking forward to some discussions!

Hello Alan,
Yes, I am definitely interested in reviewing books, but I do have 2 coming already. I just don't want to overwhelm myself and not be able to give reviews in a timely manner. I did see you are the author of Shimmer. I would certainly be interested once I am done with others, if it's not too late.
I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

I’m a copyeditor with almost a quarter of a century of experience (old much?!) in editing, primarily fiction. I have worked for a well-known global online copyediting company and for over ten years, I’ve owned/operated my own editing business. This year, I moved into publishing with my label, designed to help independent authors publish. I originally envisaged it as an extension of my production editing services (formatting for print and digital, covers, flap copy, blurbs, and so on) but am now in the process of revamping my model to encompass both hybrid and traditional publishing methods since I have two award-winning authors on my roster and hope to secure a Hugo and Nebula winner too. Exciting times!
My very steep learning curve this year has extended my network to other authors, other copyeditors, proofreaders, sensitivity readers, designers, illustrators, marketers, beta readers (tho I always want more), journal reviewers, and the like.
If anyone has needs in certain areas of writing and publishing, reach out if you wish and maybe I can help or put you in touch with someone who can. I genuinely like to help writers, so I often offer help & advice when asked and put folks in touch with each other.
I’m a happily married part-time ex-pat Brit. I split my time between the UK and Istanbul, Turkey, birthplace of my wonderful wife. I enjoy reading, of course, as well as good TV shows and movies. I play tennis quite regularly … which gets increasingly more ache inducing as the years go by.
The editor in me knows that I should have made that last line the close.

I am an author who is just starting to get serious about publishing. I am working toward (re)launching my first epic fantasy novel, as part of a plan to launch the sequel a few months later.
I am a big fan of the fantasy and science fiction genres, although I regularly sample other genres.
