James Huck (_jameshuck_) | 8 comments Hi everyone,

I have just released debut novel on Amazon and Good Reads
The Sick Teacher's Cook Book

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sick-Teacher...

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

It's a darkly comic thriller set in and around a Primary School in the mildly dystopian environment that is the South East of England.

I managed to make my proof readers laugh and cry so I thought it was worth publishing but didn't want the endless toil of finding a literary agent, negotiating etc. so took advantage of new technology and self published.

I have discovered that writing the book was the easy bit - actually finding anyone to read it is much harder! So I am hoping to connect with readers / reviewers who will help me find my audience.

Thank you in advance for all of your kindness and patience.

kind regards

James Huck

Michele Ceron | 89 comments Hi everyone!

I wanted to tell you about an indie author facebook group I started. The purpose of the group is to help each other out with reviews and sales by buying each others books and then giving HONEST reviews both here and on amazon! How does it work? Well first join the group! Second, post an ad for your book. You can post more than one book if you like! Third is you also need to buy and review others books so pick out a book already advertised that you are interested in, buy it or download it on KU, and then let the author know that you will be reading and reviewing it. There is no time frame on how quickly to read and review it. All that is asked of you is that you also give back and not just use the site to get reviews for yourself. You also need to be willing to give an HONEST review so if you don't like the book you need to be willing to give a critical review! NO FAKE REVIEWS! Also dont ask the author for a free copy nor give out free copies to anyone on there of your book, we also want to help out the author by purchasing the book or giving them page reads on KU. It is NOT expected to do an equal trade with another author, actually I would recommend not doing that because sometimes amazon notices that and will take both reviews down. Just pick a book that you like even if that other author does not read your book, hopefully someone else will read your book! Its a new group so its not that active yet so we need more members to make it so! Join us!

I’m new to this group & just wrote my very first review on Goodreads. ;-)
Still figuring out how to post it in the right genre.

I’m from the Netherlands, addicted to reading and hopefully will make some friends here on GR to bookgeek with.

message 1779: by Charisse (new)

Charisse Moritz | 115 comments Hello Naduah and welcome. We all appreciate anyone willing to devote their time to reading our work and posting reviews. I would be delighted to provide a copy of either of my mature YA romance novels, Shakespeare Burning or Shatter. Both are intended for 18+ readers due to mature content and are HEA endings. Let me know if you'd like more information or be interested. I can provide any format that works for you. I've included a brief blurb from Shatter and hope to hear from you here or through email (ugarps@yahoo.com). Cheers, Charisse

First day of senior year and Tia West just ran over a hot guy in the high school parking lot. In her defense, she’s a little preoccupied as the caretaker of five younger siblings, one dog, one cat, facing a mountain of bills and determined to keep her family together. The eternal optimist, she just needs to try harder, be better, take a deep breath and definitely shouldn’t bring home another stray dog or an angry, scary and scarred boy who is obviously in desperate need of a hug.

After a stint in juvie, Taz is back for senior year, and every minute is a struggle. His only defense is silence. Keeping quiet avoids the slaps, hits, threats and is as close to safe as he can manage. Until Tia West convinces him of possibilities he never knew existed. She fills every dark, empty space with a lightness he’s never experienced before, and the only way to keep her is by speaking up for himself. But his secrets are the kind that devastate and destroy.

message 1782: by J.P. (last edited Aug 20, 2020 01:29PM) (new)

J.P. Kobel | 3 comments I’m J. P. Kobel. I’m a writer that has just attempted my first novel. I usually write about non-fiction subjects like economics, politics, and law. Writing a novel about any of these subjects would make for a boring read. Yet, these subjects are the underlying messages of this novel.

To spice up this novel, I put the economic/political messages into a story of two parallel realities: one dystopian and the other utopian. The dystopian ‘outside-world’ is led by Trump who has been made dictator for life by an all-Republican Congress. The outside-world is a land of false-flag operations, pandemics (worse than COVID-19), the medical-industrial complex, modern fascism, mind-control, eugenics, puppet-masters, mysterious deaths, a new world order, underground bases, secret prisons, nuclear war, massive social unrest, and worse. As Al Gore once said about America in the 2010s, “It’s like the nightly newscasts are a nature walk through the Book of Revelation from the Christian Bible.”

The ‘Community’ experiences a completely different reality. It is a utopia. I finished writing about a month ago and I’m anxious to get deeper into writing Book 2 of this trilogy.

One of the primary messages of the book is to protect democracy in America. With an election coming soon, I hope it can influence a few voters.

I would love some honest reviews and am happy to give the eBook to any interested reviewers. The book is The Rise and Fall of Trump. I hope you all like it!

message 1783: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Mark | 4 comments Hi. I am writing a trilogy of which two are completed. They are high paced action thrillers with a serious theme - why is religious conflict causing so much suffering in the world when the main religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity all emanate from the same Abrahamic source? The first which is published is called The Last Messenger. The second will be published in September and is called The Lies of Our Fathers.
I read alot and think my favourite novels are Shantaram The Kite Runner The Honourable Schoolboy

J.P. Kobel | 3 comments Hi Gauri!

I have a book that needs to be reviewed. It has aspects of fantasy, dystopia, utopia, humor, satire, and even a splash of the Italian Renaissance. See The Rise and Fall of Trump. If interested, I'll send you a free copy of the ebook.

I think you'll find that it's much more than just another anti-Trump book.
