Amanda Pavlov | 1 comments I’m a writer of humor, both truth and fiction. A reader of everything from books thick enough to rival phone books to the backs of cereal boxes. I’m a bit critical and hard to please, but I’m an optimist so I see a little good in everything I read, even if it doesn’t exactly put wind in my sails.

Lisa Matthews (lisa_matthews) | 28 comments Hello hello! Hope everyone is OK and having a decent Monday...

I'm brand new to the group and relatively new to Goodreads - I'm still getting to grips with things. I've spent the last 18 months rewriting my book Spellbound and re-released the new and improved version on 8th February as Death By Curiosity. I'm really excited for people to read it - it's a light-hearted crime mystery with a bit of a twist, and it was so much fun to write.

Happy to be here and see what's occurring :)

Reg Gothard | 1 comments Hello,
I am a Canadian, although officially I'm also still a Brit. I'm therefore bi-lingual (British and Canadian English).

I recently joined Goodreads to try to find kindred spirits or at least writers-who-think-and-write-like-I-do-only better (aka W-W-T-A-W-L-I-D-O-B.).

I do have a (humorous how-to) book in progress (several beta readers are plowing/ploughing their way through it as I write this), but it's not my intention to plug it here.

Yet.

Instead, I want to help my kindred spirits (or at least W-W-T-A-W-L-I-D-O-B.) by beta reading and/or reviewing their books. I believe in giving at least as much to as I take from any organization I belong to, and hope to continue that tradition at Goodreads.

My interests lie in humour in the style of people such as Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, Douglas Adams, Alan Coren, P.G. Wodehouse, S.J. Perelman, and Stephen Leacock. Other influences include the Monty Python team and the "Blackadder" writers (Richard Curtis, Ben Elton and Rowan Atkinson).

I'm a Boomer with sixty-four years on-the-job experience, and spent thirty-three years of my working life in IT, the last few of them as a technical writer. For the last thirteen-plus years I've been running an event videography business, which I'm now in the process of winding down.

There. Duly introduced. I look forward to finding and helping my kindred spirits! (Or at least...)

Goatato (goatatopotato) Hello all,

If reading was a sport, I'd be a gold medalist over and over. I read about a book a week. My main genre at the moment is thrillers, but honestly I read just about anything. Once I start a book, I am committed to finishing it, so I got the idea (like many others, I'm sure) to try something new this year!

I am getting started on the journey to try and review all the books I will go through. I thought this would be a good place to get started as there are all sorts of books being mentioned that are not your "top sellers", which is exactly what I want!

I look forward to reading many of the books y'all have put so much work into writing. Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas! <3

Bia (biibii97) Hi! I wanted to get back into reviewing and being active on this site and figured this would be the best place to start. I really enjoy mystery's, thrillers, dystopians, horror, psychological thrillers and chick lit. However, if a book has an interesting premise then I'll pick it up regardless of its genre. I'm looking forward to getting to you know all, and reading/discovering books that deserve some attention and love 🥰

Charisse Moritz | 115 comments Hi Bee and welcome! Be warned, you'll probably be bombarded with review requests. We all appreciate your willingness to donate your time and efforts. I'm hoping you'll consider a mature YA romance. Shakespeare Burning currently has 30 ratings with an average of 4.33 on Goodreads. I'd be delighted to provide a free mobi, epub or PDF copy. Feel free to contact me here or at ugarps@yahoo.com. I've included a brief teaser.

He’s the boy who wants to disappear.

One mistake and seventeen-year-old Shake LeCasse lost everything. Now there’s no going back and no way to move forward. The once-popular Varsity hockey captain is living in the basement of a grandmother he barely knows, ditching school, avoiding friends and working hard on self-destruction.

She’s the girl nobody sees.

Cleo Lee survives however she can. Lie, cheat, steal, whatever it takes, and saving Mr. Popular isn’t part of the plan. Telling him the truth about the night that destroyed his life is downright dangerous. She needs to keep quiet, be smart and let the guy she’s been half in love with since middle school throw away a future she’d do anything to have. Too bad she sucks at playing it safe.

My reading tastes are pretty eclectic and include personal choices from libraries (I belong to three), books chosen by either of the two book clubs I belong to and books for review from publishers and authors. Kassondra Lewis (askkassondra) | 2 comments Hi Goodreads Family,

I am excited to be joining the group. I am new to everything as a new author and learning as I go.

I started this journey just wanting to give back and be a blessing. I want to help as many people as I can with some of life's challenges.

I had to find a way to share my experiences and inside knowledge in the mortgage industry. Give the public access to me as a mortgage underwriter & processing manager to ask questions. I decided to start with a book and eventually I will do a YouTube channel where I can share a lot of tips.

Please if I do anything wrong let me know.

Looking forward to the next chapter of my life.

Sincerely,
Kassondra

Marissa Harrison (marissaharrison) | 9 comments Hello everyone! I'm so excited to have found this group! My name is Marissa. I'm a writer, a reader, and a millennial who still has not figured out this social media thing and probably never will.

I love books, coffee, wine, my husband, books, my guinea pigs, fitness and books. Also, friends and family are pretty alright to me.

My favorite genres are all under the Literary Fiction umbrella (I think, not sure what Literary actually means...) I love descriptive prose, and books that tackle hard subjects. Contemporary, Romance, Mystery, Thriller, mix those all together and I'm a happy camper. Some of my favorite books include The Child Finder, All the Ugly and Wonderful Things, Beartown, Gone with the Wind, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and East of Eden. I also read True Crime, but had to take a break because it's made me paranoid.

I write reviews sometimes, but it's harder now since I've focused more on writing. Now I try to leave only positive reviews, three stars and up because being on the other side I know just how much blood, sweat and soul goes into writing a book.

I'm releasing my debut novel this year, and I'm so excited and happy and terrified about this. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Alright, enough about me!

Grady Brown | 19 comments Greetings,

My name is Grady P. Brown. I am an author who is diagnosed with high functioning autism. I am a connoisseur of the science fiction, fantasy, and superhero genres. In addition, I am an autism ambassador, hoping to demonstrate the potential benefits one can gain from being autistic. As a writer, I utilize my autism to visualize the story taking place inside my head like a movie. Also, I have a very strong memory, allowing me to store information about my characters and stories in my brain as though it were a computer hard-drive. I am also a passionate pit bull lover and own a pair of sweet and loving pit bull named Wally and Fitch, who I affectionately call "The Boo Bears".

I should warn you that even though I have been a member of GoodReads for three years, I am still trying to learn the ins and outs of the whole process. If I make mistakes that are frowned upon, I deeply apologize in advance.

I am self-published and I thoroughly enjoy writing stories, building worlds, and creating characters. So far, I have written and published three superhero books, two fantasy novels, and one giant monster novella. I also have a new space opera book on the way that is undergoing editing. Finally, I am currently working my fourth superhero book. Whoo! I have been super busy!

Brenda Salazar Hi all,

I recently got back into reading and have been enjoying it a lot. I have started to dive into the world of BookTube and book blogs and would love to start reviewing some books of my own.

My favorite type of books are anything romance, sci-fi, and dystopias.

message 1540: by Evie (new)

Evie ✰ (blossomingreads) Helloooo :) My name is Eve I'm a sixteen-year-old reviewer:)

My type of books: *I only read FICTION*
-I'd preferably go for YA or NA but occasionally enjoy a good adult story, I just relate more to younger characters seeing as I'm 16.
-Preferred genres: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Dystopian, Paranormal, Romance and Contemporary and moreeee (I'm not picky)
-Most of the time there has to be a romance in the story for me to really like it.

Here are some (more or less) interesting facts about me to help you get to know me:

1. I would much prefer to stay in and read a good book over anything else you can think of. (I'm introverted)
2. Nonetheless, I also play right side for my high school volleyball team coming in at a whopping height of 5'9
3. I'm an INTJ/INTP, Scorpio rising, Libra sun and Cancer moon (if you care)
4. I'm bilingual but hate reading in French
5. I have strawberry blond hair and hazel eyes
5. I care a little too much about Dean Winchester
6. and finally, my favourite type of books are morally grey and push the boundaries of what's acceptable in a healthy relationship

So yeah that's it :)
