Larry Cowsert | 1 comments Hi, everyone. I am very pleased to be a part of such a great group of writers!

I am a long-time writer, but a first-time author! I am a retired business consultant and I have written over 100 business plans, but my clients remembered me most for using some folksy, catchy "sayings" that my grandfather and father used on me in my youth. Over the past 20 years, countless clients have told me that I should write a book featuring these aphorisms and tell some of the stories that help define each one.

So, I have completed "CHARACTER - Lessons Learned from a Character ... About Having Character".

My beta readers (roughly 50) have said that my writing style reminds them of Mark Twain and the book reminds them of "All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" or "Chicken Soup for the Soul".

I am self-publishing, using BookBaby and the digital version of the book should be available around February 17, when the paperback and hardback go into presale. I am also recording a version for Audible.

Chapters include: "It's Hard to Cry When You're Puckered for a Whistle", "Never Forget to Feed the Hired Hands", ""Never Hitch Your Wagon to Just One Horse", "When You Get Kicked In the Teeth Enough, You'll Begin to Recognize a Foot When It's Coming At You", and "You Wouldn't Want Grandma to Lie to You, Would You?"

It is an easy, sometimes funny, sometimes blunt, sometimes sad, and sometimes provocative collection of essays that examine integrity, ingenuity, honesty, loyalty, dignity, and humanity.

message 909: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Fitzgerald (vickifitzgerald) | 3 comments Hiya, I am new to the group. I am a debut crime thriller author. My novel Briguella is the result of my time spent as a Journalist in the UK and is based loosely on real events that I covered involving a serial attacker.

Briguella by Vicki Fitzgerald

Blurb: After seven women fall victim to a serial killer, journalist Kate Rivendale becomes embroiled in the manhunt. The authorities have no suspect, only one forensic link dating way back to the 1930s.

Detective Chief Inspector William Beckley needs to salvage his career; he has too many deaths on his conscience. Beckley entices Kate to go undercover, a decision which backfires with devastating consequences.

While DCI Beckley reaches a horrifying conclusion about the murderer Kate enters a desperate fight for her life... while battling to keep her own secrets buried.

If anyone would like to review it, I'll happily email you the book.
Thanks xx

Alexander Pink | 6 comments My name is Alexander Pink and I have written a book that I guarantee avid readers of sci-fi/fantasy will find a unique and original work with concepts rarely found in the genre, if at all.

While the majority of science fiction which tends to have limits with writers adhering to long-held, commonplace sci-fi elements, my story explores alternative scientific theories and social concepts based on an ancient mythology recently rediscovered and currently being explored by society.

The first book of the series is Bennu Strand: The World inside Book One. The Bennu Bird is the progenitor of the mythological Phoenix and a key element in the Kemetic Story of Creation. One of the key elements I explore is the idea humanity, in ages long past, may have attained heights of technological achievement that was lost to cataclysm and evidence concealed by the hands of time.

Shahid Insaf (httpswwwcreatespacecom6412708) | 1 comments Hello everyone,
I've been a Goodreads member for a long time but just joined this group. I look forward to connecting with authors, reviewers and readers. My debut novel '3 Tales of Vengeance' was published about a year ago and I am in the process of writing 3 more, all at the same time. I highly recommend this process. I've found that this method allows me to discover and use new situations and dialogues inspired by previous writing. It also seems to have helped me overcome my writer's block.
I also love reviewing other books but my full time job prevents me from doing it as much as I would like.
Details about me and my novel can be found on 3talesofvengeance.com

James (jamesvellabardon) | 2 comments Hi everyone
I'm very excited to form part of this group. I was born and raised in Malta and emigrated to Sydney, Australia in 2007. I love thrillers with an original setting featuring engaging, grey characters. Just to give you an idea of what I love, some of my favourite novels are: 'Captain Alatriste', 'Sharpe's Tiger', 'Q', 'The Fellowship of the Ring', 'The Twelve Children Of Paris', 'The Whale Road', 'Altai', 'Trainspotting' and 'Papillon'. I'm currently reading and absolutely loving 'Flashman'.
I'm also an author: my debut historical thriller 'The Sheriff's Catch' is going to be published by Unbound on 15 March 2018. It's the first instalment in a five-part series called 'The Sassana Stone' and took both the Unbound and The Pigeonhole platforms by storm. It's the story of a reluctant member of the Spanish Armada who finds himself running for his life after being shipwrecked in Ireland. I'm presently seeking reviewers who might be interested to read an advance review copy.
I also post reviews of novels from time to time. I love writing and reading other readers' reviews.
Look forward to making many new friends in this group.
Best regards,
James

I'm thrilled to be part of this group and making the decision to join Goodreads! I'm a debut author and I'm getting ready to release book 1 in my adventure series called A Shadow Away, May 15, 2018.

Hi M! I'd love to send you an ARC of book 1 in my debut adventure series, A Shadow Away. It will release May 15, 2018 and would love your review in advance, if you have time.

Synopsis:
Book One in the Alex Cort Adventure Series
A Shadow Away (Coming Soon)
When British archaeologist Andrew Seaton discovers a jewel-encrusted golden statue, he realizes he may have uncovered the key to the lost city of El Dorado. The statue disappears before he can verify his findings, and Andrew must rely on private detective Alex Cort to recover the prized artifact.

The two men find themselves caught up in a dangerous race against a corrupt colleague and a ruthless art thief who will stop at nothing to claim the statue for themselves.

As each new clue leads them up the Amazon River and deeper into the jungle, they soon discover things are not quite what they appear. When all seems lost, the mystical powers of a beautiful woman guide them out of danger and ultimately to the ruins of an ancient city, where Andrew must right the wrongs he committed in a past life and Alex discovers a secret of his own.

Would love to offer anyone interested an ARC and to connect on Goodreads or offline via email if you have any questions! Thank you!
