Gabi Maldonado I believe that the author, Rebecca Stead purposely made Sal a pretty flat character. I think she did this to let us slowly gain more and more knowledge about Sal throughout the book.

Elizabeth That's true... also, his history fighting with Miranda while being her best friend adds to his mysterious quality.

Gabi Maldonado I haven't finished reading the book yet but I also believe he will change, causing him to be dynamic. I think that he will not remain static although I don't know much about him yet because of his flatness. Because he is a big part of the book I believe that him changing or like I said above taking on more character traits is fairly likely.

Elizabeth If you haven't finished the book I won't spoil it for you :) but it is true that he will open up to his true feelings with Miranda. I guess in some ways, that can be considered a round character, because the reader is being exposed to more of his character traits and a round character is one who possesses several traits. On the other hand, he is not a dynamic character - he doesn't truly "change" at all through the story (actually, is a perceived change still counted when determining if a character is static?)

Gabi Maldonado Oh I just thought he would change in the way so maybe they could be friends again. But again that's an inference thanks for the help Liz I feel like I know more about the book now.

Elizabeth Well maybe they do become friends again... ;) won't spoil it. No problem!
