Here we are, the last group read of the year. The last theme, as you can see by the title, is Revenge. Since I've been fairly occupied this week, I didn't get around to looking up any specific titles. I hope you all have something in mind though and that you had a good Halloween. Here begins the Revenge of the Vengeance. Happy reading!

Portlandtown: A Tale of the Oregon Wyldes by Rob DeBorde

Red Country by Joe Abercrombie

Silver Stallion by David Bane

Lost Trails: Forgotten Tales of the Weird West edited by Cynthia Ward features a story or two focused around a revenge plot.

While not a revenge novel, perse, there are some revenge sub-plots. Grey Torrence is literally haunted by his past, as the ghosts of soldiers and an ex-lover that he abandoned during the Civil War stalk him across the country.

Also, Thomas Looks Away, the Indian who hires him, is seeking revenge on two robber barons who are killing the citizens of the town with exploitative water, land and mining rights.

While it's not the great revenge story of something like Hang 'Em High or similar, these plots still push the novel forward and add elements of depth to some otherwise stale characters.
