Hi,I am so glad I found this challenge. I have 3000+ physical books that I need to start chiseling away at instead of buying new books and that does not even count my audiobooks and ebooks. Hopefully this year I will be able to clear out a good chunk of books before my husband finds all of the places I have them stashed! This is my first year doing this challenge so I am going to start with Mt. Kilamanjaro. I hope to pass that and go higher though or I will never see any progress!

Hi, Terri! Welcome to the Climbing Crew!
I'm also doing a combination challenge part of Pop Sugar and part of Read Harder.I ended last year at 70 books and I'm hoping to do another 70 this year.

I had already been planning on dedicating most of 2016 to my TBR pile; partially because there are so many, and partially because I don't really have room to budget new books. >_< I had some library books at the end of 2015 (or holds that came in after the 1st), so I knew I couldn't dedicate ALL of my reading to TBRs. This will help me stay organized about it.

...Yes--the books must be owned by you, either in physical form or an e-copy prior to January 2016. "Ohhhh,
Oke that's a good one, I have thousends (650 physical ) and still get something from the (free) library or second hand. This will be a hard challenge for me, I've already choose Mt Ararat so it will be an effort to have them all of my own stock.

I found this group through the Bustle post about different book challenges and I thought it sounded brilliant! I have a TON of TBR books that I currently own and it's kind of ridiculous. I'm going Pike's Peak because I'm ridiculously busy, so I don't want to be too ambitious. I'm hoping I can make it past Pike's Peak, but I'm going to start small. Not sure how this works, but I'm hoping I can figure it out!
Hi All! I found this group quite by accident on GoodReads. It is exactly the incentive I need! My collection of unread books no longer fits on the 6 foot tall shelf designated for it (that's not including the large number of eBooks currently sitting on my iPad). I work at the public library and one of the perks of my job is first dibs on the donations not being added to the collection.
I'm going to try for Mt. Kilimanjaro (60 books).

Welcome, Rachel! So glad you're joining us. You should be able to open a topic folder under Pike's Peak to keep track of your climb.

Hi Taleisin! Welcome to the climbing crew!
Hi, I just discovered this group!! What a great idea! Now I need to decide which mountain I want to climb. I have many, many TBRs and I have a physical pile set aside that I want to get through by the end of the year, but I also still have a pile from last year that I didn't get through because I keep buying more books and getting sidetracked. (I'm sure I'm not the only one that has that problem.)

I read a total of 160 books last year, and I'm not sure how many of those were TBRs, but I have 3 in progress right now that are TBRs (and one book that isn't) and a list of several others that I want to get through by the end of the year. This is really going to help motivate me and hopefully keep me from not getting sidetracked as often.

Hi, Loren! Welcome to the climbing crew!
My name is Bethany, and this is my first year doing a reading challenge (I'm actually doing 4!), and my first time doing the Mount TBR! I decided to join because I noticed today that my TBR list is already up to 633 and, thanks primarily to BookBub, it just keeps growing!!Since I'm already involved in the other challenges, I kept my goal on the 'safe' side and chose Mt. Ararat (48). If I didn't have some page count doozies on my other challenges (think Count of Monte Cristo), I'd probably tackle a higher mountain. This should be a good place to start, though! I did try to keep my list mostly made up of digital books so that I can always have it with me and knock these out quicker! :)
Bethany, I had to change my BookBub notifications because I was getting so many books from them!! That's the main reason my TBR list is up to almost 900!Good luck with your goal. :)

LOL! I changed my BookBub notifications for the same reason. Daily temptation was just too much to resist. It's hard enough now that it's weekly.

Hello. My name is Georgia. I just joined this group - it's my first year undertaking the challenge. It’s a bit late, but I’m going to be starting at Mount Blanc - 24 books. My TBR pile has been growing wildly lately – it really didn’t help that my birthday was fairly recently, and, of course, I spent all the money I received on books. At last (inaccurate) count, my TBR pile was at about 200 books, which is about a third of the total books I own. I’m looking forward to demolishing a good eighth of that this year.

Hi, Georgia! Glad you found us. Good Luck with Mount Blanc!
Starting with this challenge late, attempting Ararat. My Mount TBR is going to take me forever to get through, even if I manage 50ish books a year (which will be difficult in and of itself.)

Hi, everyone! I'm Liz, I just found out about this group from a post through Facebook with a list of different reading challenges. I'm joining kinda late in the game for 2016, but I'm hoping (emphasis on hoping) to get to mount Vancouver by the end of the year, although I have more than enough TBRs piled up in my room to climb to Olympus... Twice... probably (I'm not counting). My real problem is being on super good terms with the local bookstore owners in my town; I go in just to say hi and before I know it there I am buying $15 of $1.59 clearance books with a discount for paying in cash, or I'm getting free ARCs or that poetry book that's been on clearance for months now is free of charge. It's nice, but it's a problem. My goal is to clear off some shelf space instead of buying a new bookshelf (or a new crate). Most of my reads will probably be a mix of classics, thrillers, old and obscure used books, the entire Vampire Chronicles series (because that's my summer reading goal), and other random dusty books from my shelves. I'm excited to get started!

Hello My name Is sam and I just found this group online. I thought this would be a cool thing to do since i have so many books lying around the house that I never get around to. I am hoping to accomplish Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR piles/s but we will see how it goes! I am very excited to get started! Not sure what to do now since i have read a few books already.. I guess I will post to the group I am joining about what I have already read! So excited to do this!
Good luck Sam. If you've already read books in 2016 that fit the rules Bev posted, they do count for the challenge year.

Welcome, Lizy! Good luck with your climb--and any books off the TBR pile are a good thing, no matter how late you start climbing.

I'm definitely going to enjoy this challenge--though coming in late to the game, a few of the books I've recently finished, or am on the verge of, have been part of my TBR for ages. There's a sort of strange pride in ticking them off, and I'm looking forward to clearing some stuff out, particularly on my Kindle. Thanks!!!

Hi, I'm Donnisha. I have never counted how many books I own but haven't read. That being said it probably hovers somewhere between 300. I think I will tackle my kindle books first. I am going to join in at the Mount Blanc level and go from there. It would be awesome to one day finally say that I have read every book I own.

I did the Popsugar challenge last year and I am repeating this year together with a few other challenges. It was another participant in the GR challenge who introduced me to this one, which is perfect for me as, like Bev , I think I have about around 3000 books.
In the past, this insane addiction even forced me to move houses a couple of times going after more and more shelf space, but nowadays, happily, most of my library lives in my kindle. I tend to read between 150 and 250 books a year, depending on what other hobbies I get serious with, but no less than 150. So I'm signing in for my mountain straight away. I'm very happy that this group was recommended to me.
