Alke (alkeliest) | 5 comments Hi I'm Alke and my TBR bookshelf is growing faster and faster each year - just can't say "no" to books :)
I own round about 300 books that want to be read, and my first goal is Mt. Kilimajaro.

Sarah (outtaty) | 78 comments Hi, I'm Sarah and my Physical book TBR is 110. My ebook number is unknown. I refuse to count it yet. I'm looking forward to focusing on my own bookshelves. It's a waste not to, I've got some fantastic books on there!

Kathleen (towers_kt) | 27 comments Hello all, I'm Kathleen a third-year participant of Mount TBR. In spite of my technical occupation, I adore fiction, and through that passion and the reasonable prices of used book stores, have acquired quite a mountain of books.

As I'm moving again this coming year, it'd be quite nice to not have as many books to drag along. Therefore: my goal this year is to read 36 physical books in my collection (won't be counting the weightless digital ones) and cut down at least a bit on my moving pains (grin).

Kate Hello all! I thought I signed up for a challenge, but I cannot find any posts I may have written. Anyway, I would like to sign up for level 1. I refuse to count my TBR, but I have shiny new flu; I always want the newest thing. I really do need to read what I own! Found my post under Level 1, but I had never introduced myself :)

Welcome, Kate! Glad to have you with us. Sorry to hear you've got the flu. I've managed to get myself a lovely bout of severe bronchitis--after all, I've never had that before, so I might as well get a really good case of it, right?

Rokkan (rokk) | 30 comments Hello!

I'm Holly, and I'm new. Someone in my local NaNoWriMo facebook group linked us all to the bookriot read harder reading challenge, and somehow things spiralled from there via google. I found a blog that linked to Bev's blog re the TBR challenge, found this link there and boom, here I am. I did write a note on Bev's blogger but it seems to have recognised me as 'unknown'. Oh well, such is life. Mt Vancouver here I come!

Claire Hi!
My name is Claire and I'm a book addict...
This mount TBR group helped me so much to get through my unread stacks this year that I decided to join again for the 2016 edition :D

message 115: by Chalmation (new)

Chalmation Hello everyone. I’m Cindy and I live in the New Orleans area.

I only read ebooks (on my Kindle), so if its not in that format, I don’t read it. I have over 2000 books (most were free) in my Kindle account, plus I subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and have 3 public library accounts. I’m not going to live long enough to read all my books!

For this challenge I will be climbing Mt. Ararat.

message 116: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hi all! I'm glad to be joining you on this trek! My husband and I are both English teachers and have no self control when it comes to buying books (or taking free ones when they come across our paths), so we have a ton. I'm not really in this to ultimately clear them out of my house, but I wish I'd read more of them.

As a teacher, I don't feel like I have a ton of free reading time during the semesters since I'm usually rereading what I'm teaching, so I'm starting small (Pike's Peak) and we'll see if I can get higher!

message 117: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (janeycanuck) | 39 comments Hi everyone!

I'm joining for the first time and am really hoping this helps make a dent in the pile. I'm taking on Pikes Peak but I'm harbouring secret hopes of being able to up it to Mont Blanc.

Good luck to everyone :D

message 118: by Cathy (new)

Cathy I'm getting ready for the climb up Pike's Peak. This will be my first attempt, but I'm very hopeful. I am actually excited to get some of my actual print books read!

Teresa Bergholz (moonblink39) | 56 comments Hi. I'm Teresa. I definitely need to tackle my mountains of owned books. I read mostly e-books and it is so easy to add to their number. Just a simple mouse-click. I'm challenging myself to stick to owned books as much as possible this year.

message 131: by Roxy (new)

Roxy (bookchick313) I am attempting Mount Ararat for the second year in a row. I have over 100 physical books on my book shelf that I need to read, and over 500 unread books on my Kindle. So, unfortunately, this challenge isn't going to make much of a dent. However, it's the highest I feel comfortable challenging myself to read since I work thirty hours a week and commute to university full-time. I attempted to climb Mount Ararat in 2015 without success. Although I read 80 books last year, I only read 33 books that I have owned since 2014. I hope to do better this year. Good luck to everyone, and Happy New Year!

Good luck, Sam! I wasn't as successful at conquering my tbr pile, but I'm hoping to do better this year. I've been really good at purging books in the past few years. I only want books on my shelf that reflect my reading tastes, so if I didn't like a book, I have no desire to keep it. My ultimate goal would be to reduce my tbr pile to 10 or less, but I don't see how that could ever be possible with so many unread books. Plus, I am always accumulating more. We shall see. Happy New Year!

I realized how many unread books I own (both physical and e-books) when I did a reading challenge for 2015. My goal this year is to read at least 48 books I own (Mt. Ararat). I think being part of this challenge and group will help me reach or exceed that goal. Thanks for doing this!

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 23 comments Hello everyone!

I am back for my 3rd climb. I'm going to start really small and hope to get to Mt. Ararat (48 Books) this year. I own a lot of physical and e-books and would really like to make a dent this year!

message 135: by Julia (new)

Julia (mizzelle) | 11 comments I've done the Mt TBR challenge several times, but this is the first time I've started with a slightly higher mountain. Last year's reading success gave me some hope I could pull it off. My TBR shelves are completely out of control and I would like to at least attack some.

message 142: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Piper (rachelpiper) | 34 comments Hello! This is my first time doing this challenge, but it's much-needed motivation. I started working in a bookstore more than 10 years ago, and that discount is a very dangerous thing. Pretty cover? Semi-interesting description? I'll take it! I haven't worked there more than a few times a year since 2008, but I still get the discount and now work in an office complex within a three-minute walk of the bookstore. I own at least 600 books I've yet to read, and that's just the physical copies — I think I have more than 150 ebooks and a dozen audiobooks that I also need to get through.

I've shown more restraint in recent years — I don't buy hardcovers unless it's a new release from an author I absolutely love and want to collect, or is a new-favorite book I want to treasure. But paperbacks are still a problem, as are ebooks. Once something's cheaper than $8 I have a hard time resisting. This year, though, we're tightening our belts to save for a house — so my TBR piles will come in handy.

I'm planning to combine this challenge with one of the topic-based ones out there.

message 144: by Jane (new)

Jane This is my second year doing this challenge, and my seventh year doing a TBR challenge. 2015 was abysmal. I didn't even make Pike's Peak, and added at least another 40 books to the pile.
Through sending three of my children out into the world with good chunks of my library, I have my total collection down to about 2,000. I believe that about 300 of those are unread. Used book stores are my downfall.
I should aim far higher than Pike's Peak. Maybe I'll surprise myself.

Rebecca | 2 comments This is my first year doing Mount TBR. I have no idea how many books are in my pile, which is probably a good thing. The last few years, I've only read on my Kindle, which has really helped due to books no longer taking up space in my house.

message 148: by Natália (new)

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) Hey guys!
I found this challenge through a post on the 2016 Reading Challenge, which I'm also participating, and decided to join, mainly because my goal this year is to read only books on my TBR list. I have currently 923 books on my TBR list here on Goodreads, 50 of them I bought/got from Christmas or birthday and 400+ I own in ebook form. I'm aiming to finish at least 60 of those, which I set as my GR challenge as well. My other goal is to finish all my "currently reading" books, the ones I started but for some reason left aside and have yet to finish. I have at least 5 of those pending.

So, off to climb the Kilamanjaro!
