1. With the old breed was published by Eugene Sledge that is based on what he and the 1st marines went through during the world war ll pacific theater. The book gave a 1st person account of what happened at the Peleliu and Okinawa campaigns. It gave a very gruesome description of what war was like. Many people don't know what the U.S. soldiers had to go through. The filth and misery that war really is.

2. My favorite part of the book would definitely have to be the Okinawa campaign. Pelelui was bad, but Okinawa was worse. The amount of resistance that the marines battled was extreme. The sad thing was that the japs that hid in the caves often never surrendered and were burned out.

3. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is into war. It gives a real picture of what really happened and i really enjoyed it. This book deserves 5 out of 5 stars.

Have you heard the news that recently there were bodies of Japanese soldiers discovered in caves or dugouts on Pelelui, bodies from soldiers who refused to come out, died, and were only now rediscovered in the area? It's so crazy to think about.
