Yasmin The genre of this book is mystery. This is because throughout the entire story, Camille and the rest of the town, are trying to find out who killed two young innocent girls in Wind Gap. There are so many more twists and turns on who the suspect could be. So much more than you could ever imagine. I found out about this book because I watched the movie Gone Girl which is based off of the book by Gillian Flynn. I then saw that she had written at least two other stories. I feel like some of the things i learned from reading this book is that women can be absolutely insane. You never know what’s coming and with the blink of an eye, things can take a turn for the worst. I think anyone who enjoys mystery and things like that would love to read this book. i would highly recommend this book to just about anyone. It’s full of suspense and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I’ve also never felt so emotionally invested in a silly little book. But Gillian Flynn did a really good job and making me feel things that i never thought i would feel about a story.
This story takes place in the very small city of Wind Gap, Camille. The protagonist in this story is Camille, and the antagonist is someone that you’ll find out when you read the story, because i don't want to give the ending away. Camille is conflicted with the fact that she has to go back to her hometown that she hasn’t been to in almost 20 years. The death of her younger sister amongst many other things caused her home to become a place of negativity and bad memories. The major conflict of this story though, is the fact that almost everyone in the city is trying to find out who murdered the two young girls.
In my opinion, the main theme of this book is that you cant always trust everyone. Not even your own mother. This shows that no matter how kind and caring people are towards you, almost everyone has a twisted side that comes out eventually. Whether it be against themselves, or towards someone else.
