In the early 90's I read a book where the protagonist traveled to between earth and another dimension within the second dimension there was a character patterned after the late great Jim Morrison. Morrison's character was central to the story and I think the protagonist's name was David. Any help is appreciated, due to the nature of my early 20's some memories just aren't there anymore :-)

Is it Blackmantle by Patricia Kennealy-Morrison? I don't remember travel to another dimension, but there is definitely a character based on Jim Morrison.
Are there any other details you can remember? The more you add the better chance you will get someone who might recognize it.
No that's not it either. And the details I can remember are the hero was a young man in a struggle to find his true love, he ended up in an alternate universe with a character based on Morrison as his guide. The cover was blue I think and had a tree on it.
Please don't hate me for asking, but are you sure you're not picking up some of the plotline from the movie Wayne's World 2? Wayne drifts into a dream-like world where he meets up with Jim Morrison more than once in the movie.
Lol, no that's fine. And no I am not thinking of that, I really wish I could remember the name of it. It was similar to Magic Kingdom for Sale, but that may be only because I remember reading it around the same time.
Shadows Fall apparently has Sean Morrison where Sean turns out not to be his 'real' name :) does it sound familiar?
Hey Chad. Ayshe's suggestion of "Shadows Fall" by Simon R. Green might be good. It was first published in 1994. This year appears in brackets with a lighter font, so it's easy to miss.
