I'm not really into fantasies like I used to be, but there was something about this one. I loved it and can't wait for the next book. I never really got into The Grisha series. But I loved this group of six. And their backstories were all heartbreaking. (view spoiler)

Awesome, Karen, we are very much on the same page with both this book and the Grisha series :) Surprise surprise ;)

Nancy (paper_addict) I can't remember why I wasn't able to read this when it was a groups read but I started it the other day and I am 60% through it and I really like it.

So I am disappointed that some of you didn't like the Grisha series. So maybe I will pass on it (you know, too many books, too little time and all that). I think I will read book two though of this series.

Awesome! Glad you're enjoying it and you finally got a chance to read it :) We can also all read the sequel together when it comes out :)

I know a lot of people who really did love the Grisha, but for some reason I just couldn't connect with the characters, though the worldbuilding was pretty well done.

Catherine Bruno | 771 comments @Nancy I loved the Grisha Trilogy and my cousin does too! I also loved this series even though the beginning was a little slow. I can't wait for the second book and hopefully we get to read it as a group.

I like the Grisha Trilogy a lot, but I wasn't as in love with the characters as everyone else seems to be. Actually, for me, it was a good story, but not great until the last book in the trilogy...I think Leigh Bardugo's writing gets better with each book. Six of Crows was 10 times as good IMO as Ruin and Rising, which was a wonderful conclusion to the trilogy! I'd say if you read Shadow and Bone, and don't love it, but just think its okay, to keep reading the trilogy, each book gets better and better!

Nancy (paper_addict) That's good to know Jenny. I will hopefully get to them, eventually. LOL

Crooked Kingdom comes out in September. That would be great if it is a group read.

I was thinking the same thing about her world building earlier today. I've had two people today ask me about the book.

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments The Grisha series for me was one of those "I loved it while I was reading it and I totally forgot about it after" books which is sad because I remember how enthused I was by it, specially because of its beautiful world building. Maybe it was the wait for the 3rd book that made me tire for it, idk.

Anyway, Six of Crows is one of my favorite reads of 2015. You just cant help but be hooked to their lives, even if you didnt want to sympathize with them in the first place.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Grisha series. I decided not to read the last book.

But I LOVED Six of Crows!
