I read the book in the eighties but from the cover style and art it could have been published in the seventies.

The cover has a little girl, blond, i think. It's a collection of short stories.

The only story i remember is of this husband and wife going on a camping trip to try and repair their marriage. The husband is crazy jealous and it is hunted maybe a little abusive. He really wants to change and is trying to use this trip to do so. He hears a local legend about a magic fish (with some kind of rhyme, rifle or poem involved with how to catch it) that can do it but he blows it off. Then he comes back from fishing to find his wife hanging out by their campfire with two hikers that stopped by. He, of course, gets ticked off and starts to strangle her. But he stops himself and his off in search of the fish.

Any help would be appreciated because it was a great story and if i recall the others were really good too.

This is one of Zenna Henderson's stories. It's probably in the book 'The Anything Box', or it might be in 'Holding Wonder'. The man has to stroke the fish up the wrong way, which tears his hand on the scales.
