Plot: a beautiful wealthy couple have an ugly but very intelligent daugher. They are ashamed of her. Then they have a beutiful son who is literally an idiot. The fawn over and are very proud of him. The girl grows up and meets a blind man. She tells him that she is beautiful and he marries her. Then he regains his sight and leaves her. The idiot son grows up and burns the mansion down around the parents. I cant remember what happened to the girl and it is driving me nuts.

I think mass market. A relative gave me this book and "tell me that you love me Junie moon" at the same time and I only read them because of the relative. I think they might be the most depressing two books I ever read. That is all I can recall. Thanks
