hi everyone. so it's been a really long time, I'm not even sure if anyone is still getting updates etc. So basically just wanted to check in how everyone has been.

I now have an amazing 8 month old son. we finally moved into our home after 5 long years of trying to get approval etc while we lived with the in laws. ive since adopted another dog and cat and canary. this place is turning into a mad house. As you can imagine i don't have a lot of time to read unless irma dr seuss or possum magic haha.

i look forward to anyone sharing .

xx

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) Hi Megan! Congratulations on becoming a mother :-). What is your baby boy's name? I don't have any children of my own but I do have three nephews under the age of 7 and they're so much fun. You've adopted so many animals! I can understand why you don't have much time for reading! It sounds like you're having a great time though.

I started a new job in the beginning of August and I love it. It's been such a step up from my old job which was stressful and kind of crazy. Also, I finally moved out of my old apartment with my roommate and into an apartment of my own. I'm so happy with it!

I hope others check in soon and update us on their lives :-)

my little mans name is Charlie Jo. he is such a character. i think little boys vring a new adventure to your life (even nephews). Yep been crazy busy but now my boy is getting a bit older he has bigger sleeps in the day and he entertains himself so I can keep up with the housework. making just ebough time to enjoy a few pages of a good book while I scoff down lunch lol.

congrats on the new job, What sort of work do you do?
and how awesome is it to move into a new place...i have loved decorating our house and make it our own (we moved in around May (Char was already 3 months old so of course things take a bit longer to settle and organise).

Thanks for checking in too

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) That's such a great name! My grandfather's name was Charles, so it has a soft spot in my heart :). Yes, little boys really do! After growing up with almost all girls in my family, having three boys around is definitely a learning experience, to say the least ;).

Thank you! I work in academic publishing--I edit medical journals (at the moment, one in particular). I'm really enjoying it because I came from my last job kind of beaten and not expecting much. It's been a pleasant surprise!

That's what I'm looking forward to the most--making my place my own. I'm taking my time unpacking and decorating because I want to enjoy where I am right now. I don't want to put the added stress on myself that I HAVE to unpack and everything HAS to be in its place.

How are your animals doing? What sorts of things do you do with Charlie Jo during the day? I bet you both have so much fun :).

Charlie is a name that has been in my hubbys family for generations (but it is actually derived from Carmello - Maltese name).

All the animals are doing well, but we may be rehoming the cat. I think country life is a bit daunting for him and he is beginning to seem unhappy. I'll persevere a little but he might just be too timid.

Wow you must have a great career. I imagine it would be interesting.

Definitely don't stress about settling into your new place. I th hink alot of it just has to happen naturally otherwise things end up being put in places tbat just don't work or aren't quite "right".

Me and Charlie do quite a bit. today we had a Melbourne cup morning and did some collage. We made hats for a fashion on the fields photo shoot haha (a few photos with his toy horses for the grandparents). And then I lined up all his toy horses for his own race sonce he will beasleep for THE race haha.
other days arent as exciting nut we try to go outside with the dogs a bit, maybe a walk or take the dogs to the dam for a swim or go see the horse. And lots of art activities and story time. I have all my books in my library....Charlies are in every room of the house so we can just pick one up amd.start reading.
sometimes we'll take Charlie swimming or out to lunch. he's actually a really busy baby when I write it out lol

so aside from your mddicaljournals have you been reading anything good lately?

message 7: by MaryKatherine (new)

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) I love when a name has some history--family or otherwise :).

Aww, poor kitty. You're obviously a great pet owner for paying close attention to the cat and monitoring her mood! I wish you luck, whatever you decide to do.

Thank you! My career is interesting and it's great for A-type personalities, which I have :). You must be very organized and good with people (I deal with people mostly via email, but you have to know how to be helpful and diplomatic). It makes my eyes tired sometimes (reading on a computer screen all day) but it just makes me want to read more of my own choice after work!

It sounds like your days are pretty full with Charlie! My sister has three boys; the youngest is almost a year and a half and the other two are finally in school. She stays at home with the youngest and is constantly doing things with him--it sounds exhausting! :). You're making very special memories with your boy and he'll thank you for them when he's older!

I've been reading quite a bit, actually! I've discovered the Maisie Dobbs series and just finished the second book, Birds of a Feather. That and the first one were both 5 stars in my book. I just got a pretty big haul of historical fiction from the library, so I can't wait to dive in :).

Are you reading anything you pick up and put down as time allows?

i really struggle with reading computer screens. I always end up with massive headaches!
I have heard good things about that series, Ive been keeping an eye out but so far havent seen any of them at the markets (I buy all my books at the.markets or garage sales). Mind you I have so many alreafy waiting to be read. At the moment Im reading Mo Hayder's Hangi ng Hill. its kind of a thriller crime sort. But its easy enough to put down for days and then pick up right where I left off.
Just found out Im expecting number 2 next July (its still very early in the pregnancy). But Im having pretty horroble morning sickness and just trying to read is making me nauseous so mught be shelving the books for a little while.

CONGRATS! That's wonderful news :), though not about the morning sickness :(. I hope it passes soon!!

I love books that are easy to put down and pick back up again after awhile--they're the best for your busy times!.
