Bonnie Ferrante (bonnieferrante) Be careful with word order and cultural differences. http://bit.ly/OYuK3c

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 54 comments Oh my, you're right. I didn't even see that one. I mean, I immediately understood it as "people who drive black cabs", though I'm not British. (But then, I do have a character who drives a black cab, and have done some research about those. The Knowledge does look like a very hard exam to pass, and I bet you do need a hell of a memory for that.)

I totally see how word order here could lead to misunderstanding. If this was a book, I guess the author could at least use a cover with a black cab on it.

Regina Shelley (reginas) | 13 comments We don't even have black cabs here.

And I live in the southern United States.

Wow.

Yeah, that's an unfortunately constructed string of words right there.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 792 comments Ours are gray Dodge Intrepids. They used to be Green Station Wagons but they finally switched over.

What colour of cabs do you have where you live?

Also,if you haven't read the whole article, you won't get what happened.

Station wagons? For luggage I guess.

Bonnie Ferrante (bonnieferrante) I think it might also be a generational thing. I grew up during the period of the black panthers and "Black is beautiful". Even though I say African – Canadian now, that's pretty hardwired in my head.
