Angus (angusmiranda) | 4337 comments Hi, I'll be the discussion leader in January 2016. Since it's the first month of the year, I thought of shaking things up.

Instead of using the Goodreads poll, I want to ask members to cast their votes on this thread. This is because I want to consider only the votes of members who visit and read the threads in our group.

Also, I will not count the votes of members who haven't been participating in online discussions or who haven't been attending the F2Fs. I think this is fair enough because why should inactive members have any influence on what the active members will read and discuss?

If you know in your heart that you've been fairly participating in the online or offline discussions for the past three to four months (not bibo or competitive; just a member who is around and who is not away for an extended period), please vote. The attendees of the F2F have already voted. Below are the nominees:

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber - 11 votes (Me, Aaron, Bennard, Elaine, Louize, Maria, Marie, Meliza, Monique, Ranee, Ronnie)
The Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving - 0 votes
We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo - 0 votes
(updated last October 27)

Voting is until November 8 (two weeks). I have already discussed this with one of the moderators and the attendees of the recent F2F, and we all agreed. If you haven't been able to attend and you have some concerns about this, please let us know.

I am not sure if this is going to be the new selection process for the rest of 2016 (this system needs polishing and further discussion with more members), but since I'll be the discussion leader who'll do the planning, I want this to be my selection process. :)
