That's such a good point of Apollo meeting with gods!!! Imagine scenes with Apollo and Zeus or Apollo and Aphrodite or even Apollo and Artemis!!! I wonder how Artemis is going to react to her brother being turned into a mortal. I know that they're like bickering twins but still, she is his sister and twin. Will she try to help Apollo or just let him be? What do you guys think?

Yeah, I've been thinking about him conversing with the other Gods too! I bet many of them will be watching him on his journey, or bingeing on his "trials" like an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians (Keeping Up With the Olympians?) This has happened before, so I bet that the Gods may be doing so eye rolling and placing their bets on whether or not Apollo can handle it. Artemis IS his twin and has grown to love her brother, but I think that she may be too scarred of Zeus's wrath if she were to help him. I'm a little curious about how Dionysus will react to the whole thing...being that he's stuck at Camp Half Blood for another century or so. Which God are you most curious to see him with?
Reyna wrote: "That's such a good point of Apollo meeting with gods!!! Imagine scenes with Apollo and Zeus or Apollo and Aphrodite or even Apollo and Artemis!!! I wonder how Artemis is going to react to her broth..."I think that-at least in the first book-Artemis will be a little too scarred of their threatening, lightning trigger happy dad to outwardly help Apollo during some of his "trials". Maybe a little breadcrumb here and there, but nothing massive. I'm almost expecting a little run in with her hunters too. Apollo always loved flirting with them, and plus Reyna hasn't spoken to them much, so if she's still upset about the whole "no demigod can heal your heart" thing then maybe that would be a subplot? Like when Annabeth was offered to become a huntress, but turned it down? I don't know, all I know is that I'm really excited to see Dionysus's reaction to Apollo at Camp, him being another God punished cruelly by Zeus. As strange as it sounds, I almost miss the big jerk.
I know I almost feel sentimental about old Mr.D too. I personally really really want a child of Hecate. What could that kid do with that kind of magic?!? I think there's a strong possibility that Meg is Apollo's daughter. In this book I think Artemis will actually defend Apollo. Who knows?
I think Artemis will be on Apollo's side, because in BoO she was trying to protect her brother, by hiding out on Delos with him. It was established he was the one who was mainly in trouble, Artemis mentioned she was able to convince Zeus not to punish her. So if I remember correctly, I think we'll be getting a similar sort of thing in THO (The HIdden Oracle is THO... How am I only just realising this?)
However, I agree, I doubt she will be able to help him too much, mainly because this is Apollo's punishment, she won't be able to do much.
I want to see Dionysus too, back at CHB. I want to see Camp Half-Blood back to normal...
Also, if Apollo is going back to Camp Half-Blood (it says that in the blurb) he probably won't meet Reyna for a while, because she's in Camp Jupiter, right? I'm not sure how that will work. I also want Reyna to meet the hunters, but I don't think she'll join them, only because, let's face it, Camp Jupiter needs her.

One more thing guys, assuming the events of Crown of Ptolemy and Sword of Summer happen before the events of The Hidden Oracle, it'll be interesting to see how Percy and Annabeth's knowledge of other Pantheons of Gods will affect the series.

I hadn't even considered that, but you're right!! That definitely would be interesting, though I don't think it will go beyond a few references, because of course Rick wouldn't want people who haven't read Magnus Chase or the Kane Chronicles to be at a disadvantage... right?

I seriously just want more Percabeth, but a crossover with Magnus Chase would be worth thousands of dollars.

References are expected and required in my brain though!!!
References: yes.
Crossover: Somehow I doubt it, only because ToA will finish in five years, and after that Rick must be done with the characters, right?
It would be awesome, but I don't know, somehow I think a crossover with all three is unlikely. I mean we've already had crossovers between TKC/HoO, and Annabeth was in Magnus Chase, but maybe that's as far as it goes?

One more thing, I hope that like in PJO, the books take place after 1 year. I want the characters to grow, LIKE WITH US! Hopefully by the end of the series, they'll be in early 20's. And, and, and Can we hope for weddings too. (Squeal), Can't wait!

That would be awesome, but I think it's unlikely, because Percabeth would have to go to college and etc. they would all leave, and I'm pretty sure he wants them to be a part of the series.
I want that to happen, but somehow I don't think it will. It could, but my bet would be it doesn't. Maybe a few months/not regular intervals like in HoO? Who knows, it'll be interesting to find out!

Also, I don't know if this was already common knowledge, but I just saw a post where Rick confirmed that ToA takes place six months after Blood of Olympus...
So that's around Christmas time, and I think Percabeth would be in high school? So if it's in the holidays I guess they can take part in a quest, but otherwise...

Maybe he's trying to set up the series to focus more on characters who don't go to camp for Christmas or just new characters entirely(although I hope we see A LOT of old characters and some new characters). Do Percy and Anabeth go to camp during Christmas?

That's a good point! I think Percy and Annabeth do go to camp in the holidays, as do all of the seven?
In fact, I'm pretty sure most demigods do, but I definitely think there'll be some new characters.
However the fact Percy was in the excerpt makes me confident he's playing a decent role, although that could be misleading (for example, Annabeth was in the Magnus Chase excerpt, but she wasn't important).
Rick has said we'll see most of the characters again (including Leo), but not how big a role they will play. Fingers crossed it's a big role, because I like new characters, but I'm not sure I'm ready for a third wave of new characters, we've got enough we want to see as it is, so hopefully not too many! Just two or three main characters is good, but that's just my opinion!

And, UPDATE: I just saw a tweet on Rick's twitter regarding Reyna and any possible relationships in ToA! I don't know how to link images, so:
Someone asked: Would Reyna meet her better half in Trials of Apollo? I wish she would.
Rick: Reyna IS Reyna's better half.
Which is a pretty cool response, but is actually pretty ambiguous. I don't think it necessarily means Reyna won't find a relationship, but it's certainly something to think about... hmm...

Love his answer! I really hope it doesn't mean she doesn't get into a relationship, although Rick probably just didn't like how the question was phrased.
Mikki wrote: "Love his answer! I really hope it doesn't mean she doesn't get into a relationship, although Rick probably just didn't like how the question was phrased."
I agree, I think it was sorta just the way the question was asked, Rick was like "she doesn't NEED a 'better' half". Doesn't mean she won't go into a relationship.
Though actually, this has made me think, I think Rick may want to keep her single. Because a lot of his other characters 'couple' up (Travis, Leo, even Clarisse!) and so he doesn't have many messages saying 'look this person is not in a relationship and is fine'.
Maybe I'm looking too deeply into it, but I feel like he'll want to keep something like that, because otherwise he may face criticism. I know if he decided to make Reyna go out with someone, he'll probably face a lot of criticism from some fans (even if that criticism is unfair, which I'm not saying it is).

Personally, if Reyna did not get into a relationship I would be fine with that and I know she'd be okay. Reyna doesn't need to be in a relationship BUT she WANTS to be in one. She almost started crying when she told Piper what Aphrodite/Venus told her so this is obviously heartbreaking for her. I think she deserves to be happy in this series and yeah, she can be happy by herself. But the point is that if she finds someone who's right for her, no matter if it's Apollo or anyone else, Rick needs to let her be with that character because that's what Reyna wants and what would make her even happier. Sorry go the long rant it's just I felt like we also needed to see how Reyna felt abou this.

You basically just summarised how I feel about this!
I definitely agree. I understand Reyna would be fine without a relationship, but I can see her and Apollo being something, and it will be fascinating to actually see a mortal in a relationship with a god.

Guys! I just saw a picture online (and I'm pretty sure it's legit because it was from Demigods and Magicians) and I've seen the first chapter title! And yep, it's a haiku...
"Hoodlums punch my face
I would smite them if I could
Mortality blows"
And the first line is: "My name is Apollo. I used to be..."
That's pretty much all I know, but I'm very, very hyped right now.
Any last minute predictions? Anyone read the first chapter? What do you think?

My friend texted that to me last night!! That was a beautiful haiku to open the book with! I also saw something about Blessing Babe Ruth in the picture and the fact that he's 4000-something years old so I bet there's gonna be a lot of historical facts that Apollo's going to credit himself or another god with doing so I bet we'll laugh a lot. 1 month 2 days!!!

Oh yeah I saw that, I couldn't make out those sentences fully though... I definitely agree though, loads of historical references.
Did you also see the back cover of the Hidden Oracle image that Rick released? That has some history references... and it's very, very funny.
I can tell Rick's fully committing to Apollo's style, it's going to be difficult though, because he's writing the POV of a god!
I also saw something about Troy in the first paragraph, so that definitely backs up your theory.
Another thing is Apollo will know like all the monsters and stuff, his mythology knowledge will be great... so that definitely makes for a change (I'm not saying Percy knows very little about the myths initially, but I'm also not not saying it) :p

Hi, Can you guys please send the link where you found the chapter titles and all the information. I've been searching for hours and can't find it. I'm dying to read myself. Thanks for the heads up though!I am so loving the haiku!

My friend was the one who showed me the picture. If I find it, I'll let you know.
The only thing on it really is the chapter title, so you're not missing much that you don't already know! But I'l definitely send you the link if I find it.
I can only imagine how hard it will be for Rick to make every chapter title a haiku...

I'm really excited for this book. I hope Rick is good at writing haikus, although it see him running out of steam on it. Seems like Ricks still got some good ideas, and I can't wait to see them on paper!
Thanks for consideration, Arch! But, a friend of mine is buying Demigods and Magicians. So hopefully, the first chapter will be in there for me to read!

Guys, I just found out some news online right now!
Rick Riordan has released the information of a NEW demigod who will feature in The Hidden Oracle...
Her name is Chiara Benvenuti, she is an Italian demigod, and she's a daughter of Tyche...!
Ok, so Rick said she is 'Roman' but I think he may be referring to the city of Rome, as in that's where she's from, rather than her being a roman demigod, because Tyche is the Greek goddess of luck. Fortuna is the roman equivalent.
What role do you think Chiara will play? We don't know much else about her, but this confirms Rick is thinking about new characters.
So we now have Meg AND Chiara... We haven't seen any children of Tyche I think, so that should be interesting. Still don't know who Meg's parent is though... And will there be any more new characters (important ones, that is)?

Yeah! i saw it tooooo! Really gets more exciting, doesn't it! One thing guys, I am repeatedly getting this thought that ToA will be TOTALLY NEW. i mean, something Riordan has never done, and we have never read. Just makes it infinite times more interesting!
That's awesome, I wonder what role she will play - maybe she will kinda be like "Lady Luck" from HP and will be able to be lucky when necessary. I dunno - I also wonder how Rick Riordan will introduce the luck element, cos like in HP, that was a very overpowered kind of power.
How do you think he'll moderate it?
What do you think her power will be?
Maybe we'll visit Italy! That would be cool...
Wow! Awesome!!
I'm still processing the first chapter...
I like Apollo's voice, I think Rick's done a good job writing it. I hope it doesn't stay like that the whole book though, it could get annoying...
It's certainly very entertaining (:D) but I can't see much of a plot from the first chapter? Hopefully that will become clear.
I know Rick's probably going to send Apollo on a quest, but I would honestly be more than okay if it was just Lester Papadopolous (or whatever it was :p) at Camp Half Blood interacting with Percy, Annabeth, Will, Nico and the seven and Reyna and so on....
Like honestly, I hope we get loads of that. Sure, quests are cool, but I need this interaction!
What do the rest of you think of the chapter???

I know right! Blood of Olympus left so many unanswered questions! And Rick better answer it in THO, because I don't think I can wait for another year. These past months leading to the release of THO have been too excruciating! Yeah, I agree, it'll be more fun if Lester, not Apollo goes on a quest. but I don't think Apollo will be enough good to keep the secret, "I AM THE BEST HANDSOMEST SMARTEST" and all. Everyone will be suspicious, and Percy and Meg already know.
and guys, seriously what do you think Rick's gonna do with Leo and Calypso? I mean Calypso will stay at CHB or something?
Paridhi wrote: "I know right! Blood of Olympus left so many unanswered questions! And Rick better answer it in THO, because I don't think I can wait for another year. These past months leading to the release of TH..."
Totally agree about Blood of Olympus, THO has a lot of loose ends to tie up.
I agree that Apollo will find it difficult to conceal his identity, so it probably won't happen, but I just want him trying to stay incognito so bad... I mean, think of the possibilities?
Like people thinking "who is this weird new demigod and why does he speak so weirdly..."
"why is he at camp half-blood if he doesn't seem to be like a demigod??"
"why is he on his knees and crying and begging to zeus??" (xD)
No, but seriously, I just think it would be so entertaining to read. Obviously a few would know (Meg, Percy, Annabeth, maybe others of the Seven), but I think it could still be a thing? Unlikely, but who knows?
And I don't know about Leo and Calypso. Rick said we'll see them, and I'm hoping that means we're going to SEE their 'dramatic' return. This is a few months after BoO, so it would mean they've left it an awful long time... I wonder how others would react? Obviously Leo might already be at Camp by the time Apollo/Lester gets there, but I feel like Rick would be cheating us out of a scene: we deserve to see Leo return with Calypso!
I have a possible prediction: the whole book goes by with no sign of Leo, and then right at the end, literally as a cliffhanger, Leo returns, and then bam! Book ends with nothing else!
I know it's (also) unlikely, but it would be so like Rick to leave us with a cliffie like that.
Any other thoughts about a Leo return or Apollo's identity? What do you think about my 'possible' predictions? Sorry about the long response, I got carried away :P...

Brilliant idea of that cliffhanger it is! Hey, I don't you find it interesting that now Jason and Lester/Apollo have to share the same cabin. Imagine the exchange of loads of sarcasm, humor and all...:)And again, Chiron will guess who Lester is in a fraction of second!
Prediction: Maybe Leo will return just in the nick of time to save them when something happens. Would be call, and wouldn't that be a scene - a great way to reveal that you are actually alive.I think Apollo will try and stay quite incognito but that he will fail at some point and then everyone will realise what is happening.
I am just so excited, all the possibilities are running through my head but I'm sure Ricks I'll be better - and like you I want him to tie up all the loose ends offered by BOO!
Paridhi wrote: "Brilliant idea of that cliffhanger it is! Hey, I don't you find it interesting that now Jason and Lester/Apollo have to share the same cabin. Imagine the exchange of loads of sarcasm, humor and all..."
Haha, yeah, I'm sure Chiron will probably know (not much seems to get by him, does it?) But he also sort of figured it out with Jason, but nothing happened with that plot... Chiron wasn't really important in HoO, so maybe that will change! And I really really hope Apollo shares a cabin with Jason, that would be great, nice idea!
The Bookworm wrote: "Prediction: Maybe Leo will return just in the nick of time to save them when something happens. Would be call, and wouldn't that be a scene - a great way to reveal that you are actually alive..."
Yeah that's a really good prediction too! Though I'm pretty sure Leo will be very confused when he returns because of Apollo...
Unless... this is very left-field, but what IF the reason Leo does return is because he finds something out about Apollo/the plot?
Let me explain.
I'm assuming there will be some sort of higher plot to the series ie. a 'big bad' like Kronos or Gaea. Now we know that monsters rising have always been linked to that, an imbalance of some sort signalling bad things, right? So what if Leo/Calypso notices this imbalance, and realises is something is wrong. Maybe they meet a monster who lets it slip. Maybe they talk to a god(ess). Maybe they just notice strange things. Whatever the reason, they do realise, and so they return to CHB and voila: they're involved in the plot and it's a good plot twist that furthers the story.
I know this theory is based on absolutely nothing but it's fun to imagine how scenarios could play out. And I genuinely think this could be interesting.
And it all begs the question (that I'm surprisingly only JUST realising): who is the villain?
What challenges will Apollo face other than adjusting to being mortal and just the generic 'monsters'?
Could it have something to do with the python at Delphi and the missing oracle powers?
Does anybody have any idea?

Python is blocking the cave of the Oracle in Delphi, rendering Apollo in godly form along with our wonderful oracle Rachel powerless in the prophecy department. Wouldn't it just be a natural progression for anybody, not just Apollo but still likely him, to go kill Python so that his powers and Rachel's powers are restored? Apollo's enemy is Python so it would make complete sense if Apollo faced off with him. And what a good way for Apollo to get restored back to god-hood then killing an evil baddie wreaking havoc on the order of the gods!!!
Guys, I found something: i don't know if you notice this before while reading SON; In SON Ella says this line:The fall of the sun, the final verse.
Is this referring to the fall of Apollo, and final verse is likely meaning the last series so something.
Your take?

Yeah, that would make a lot of sense actually! Rachel's powers would have to be restored, and that seems logical.
At first I was thinking: wait, is Python really powerful enough to be the main villain? Does he compare to Kronos and Gaia? And didn't Apollo beat him easily before?
And then I remembered: Apollo is MORTAL. He's not even a demigod sort of thing, he is actually mortal I think, judging from the excerpts. Which means this will be very hard (and very exciting).
But... does this mean they have to go all the way back to Greece again? Let's hope it doesn't take four books...

Yes, I saw that line too! I'm certain it's talking about ToA. However, I thought that line was in Blood of Olympus? Because I remember when I read BoO first time round I thought that line would be really important, so I was looking for it to be explained, and then it wasn't. Of course, now I'm sure it refers to Trials of Apollo: Rick was cleverly setting up his next series! I hope we see Ella again, especially since she's linked to prophecies!

You. Are. A. GENIUS! That's brilliant! Son of Neptune wasn't my favorite Heroes of Olympus book, so I pretty much forgot all about that. It was strange though, because Ella then said something along the lines of, "Burnt. The rest of it is burnt." (right? I might be thinking of another prophecy so correct me if I'm wrong...) Anyway, I think that it's a bit strange that instead of saying it's gone, or not there, Ella specifies and claims that it had burned up (though the Sun does have a tendancy of burning such things...) What do you think about the 'burnt' prophecy? Was it intentionally burnt or destroyed?

Haha, yeah, incognito Apollo will propbably be my favorite part of this whole book. Mmm...maybe a close second, right after the nights he'll spend with Jason in the Cabin 1 (hasn't our poor Jason been through enough?) I have a feeling that he will (awkwardly) try to stay under radar but when he goes on a quest with Meg or Reyna or whatever then he'll reveal his true heritage. I'm expecting-well, kind of hoping-that there will be just a *little* bit of drama with the whole "I can't BELIEVE you didn't tell me who you were!" betrayl. Call me cruel, but I can't wait to see how Apollo's struggle with not being able to magic his way out of all his problems.

I didn't consider that, but yeah it would make sense for them to be betrayed!!! And also, if you discovered the guy you've met is actually a god... well, it would be a lot to take in certainly.
I really hope Reyna plays a big part in this book, but right now we've got no information about that! Rick hasn't even talked about her role directly, so we can only hope...

I personally like the way rick is writing, but I'm not sure it will be good to sustain for a whole book.Thing is with rick, i feel like he has sometimes gone so overboard with humour that he has lost that amazing plot he has always been so good at. I feel like it ruined BOO and could potentially ruin this book - i hope not.
And arch, i think that this chapter was just an introduction of us to apollo and apollo to his new world - i wouldn't expect the plot to be revealed so soon - my guess is a half half book - half plot, half just settling into the new settings and a some banter between the characters.

I completely agree with the humor thing I've actually been thinking about that and how I really hope that we don't go too overboard like with the Nike scene in BoO (which was hilarious but mentions to the Hunger Games and the whole psycho Nike was a little out of hand plus Leo mentioning his feels). With Apollo I feel like he could go especially overboard with if he's not careful! Of course I still want it to be hilarious like all his books always are but more like House of Hades and back. Still liked BoO for the most part besides the couple "final battles" which were kind of a letdown. Besides that it was still great!
Yes, definitely. The humour worked well in some books, but in BoO for example when Zeus 'slapped' the demigods to America... no, please no.
But Apollo's humour tends not to be as cheesy and obvious as that, so who knows? Hopefully it will be good.
If THO has the actions scene of BoO with better characterisation and plot, as well as climax... it will be a very good book!

Guys. GUYS.
I just had a thought.
What if Sally is pregnant in the Hidden Oracle?
No, this is not completely out of the blue (ok, it kind of is). I've just seen online from someone who is reading it (they got an early copy) that big things are happening in the Jackson family, and Sally was specifically mentioned. They're not saying anything else, and I don't really want to get spoiled, so instead I came up with a bunch of theories.
And Sally Jackson being pregnant was number one.
It was something I'd just forgot to consider, I've seen and read and thought of fics and headcanons with Percy having a younger sibling, but I thought maybe Sally was too old to have another baby (do we know her age?)
In any case, I COULD BE WRONG, but I seriously think it's a possibility.
Thoughts? I'm still processing because wow seriously if this happens I'm not even sure what I'll feel except... Percy with a younger sibling? Jackson family addition? I really want to find out now.
