Marika | 187 comments I really hope they do the epilogue justice! It felt so short to me. I mean I was happy with it, but I really hope its well done and thorough. And I wouldn't mind it being drawn out...it would be nice to seem them have some happiness since the rest of the trilogy is full of trauma

Sam | 606 comments Do u think they're gonna add drama that wasn't in the books to draw it out tho?

Marika | 187 comments No, I doubt it. I mean the “third Games”/Capitol War Zone section of the book will be action packed enough. And there is plenty of material between Peeta’s strangling scene and the Capitol war zone section. Plus the denouement of the book was fairly long. She spends all that time healing and singing and all that jazz. I mean they definitely could add more, but if they are any good (which they seem to be based off the way Catching Fire was done) they should be able to do the movies without adding a ton that wasn’t from the book.

Yeah, I feel like there is so much going on in the book and everything, it will be easy to have everything in the movie and the movies to be complete and wonderful! I cannot wait to see how all the different fighting scene are handled! And esp the scene of her announcing "Fire is catching, and if we burn, you burn with us!" Such a good quote and awesome scene and just...yeah! I can't wait!! :)

Marika | 187 comments Oh that will be a fun scene! I wonder how they will do the propos because in the book she was super awkward and had a hard time acting and it was a big dilema until they got her doing legit stuff instead of scripted stuff. But I noticed in Catching Fire the movie she didn't have much of a problem with the cameras. In her interview with Caesar she jokes with him befroe twirling her mockingjay dress, and that wasn't her at all, Peeta was the one good on camera/good with words. Idk, not a big deal in Catching Fire but I wonder how they will handle it in Mockingjay

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
Yeah...in the books she is for sure a little more stiff in the interviews, but I think if they played that up more in the movie it would have been a little weird...since they showed so much of everyone else being all calm and normal and all that. I think in HG having her and Cinna chat before hand and him being the reason she was calm, made it okay for her to be more calm in CF. However, I really hope we get to see her "bad acting" and all that in MJ! I think it is an important moment when they realize that she is a natural leader in her actions, not by standing in front of a camera. She is the Mocking Jay naturally, now when forced....

Marika | 187 comments Yeah that’s a good point. It showed how important Cinna’s reassurance was for her.

I hope they show some bad acting too! And I like the scene where they have a mtg about the crappy propo and Haymitch leads them in discussing everyone’s favorites Katniss moments…I loved that moment because I think it was encouraging for Katniss to hear people’s reactions to the love she displayed toward various people, and as a reader it was fun to briefly relive some beautiful moments, especially the ones regarding Peeta since we are all so worried about him at this point.

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
Yeah, that is one of my favorite moments for sure!! I think it was important to remember those moments, since with all the drama of Peeta being gone, and her and Gale and all that crap....it helped everyone to remember her feelings for Peeta, and the fact that she really cared for him so much! She was confused since everyone was always looking at her and analyzing everything she did, but when she was acting on instinct she showed her love for Peeta in the simplest of way and that was beautiful and amazing...and I may want to cry right now!! haha

Marika | 187 comments Exactly! ugh. I know. Mockingjay was such a rough book for me. Things with Peeta were so rough :(

message 11: by Sam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sam | 606 comments I always look at that first scene in front of the cameras in CF before they take off on tour with annoyance because she saves Peeta from having nothing to say... She is suppose to be awkward!!!! But I do love that impromptu kiss scene :D

Anyway what I hope for (and it's only sml but I loved it) right at the end when Katniss and Peeta play the game "real/not real" coz for me it really was that point where he was coming around and falling for her again, but this time he wasn't alone :D *sigh*

message 12: by Dana, SuperMod (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
YES!!! When I was re-reading the books just before CF came out, I was crying so much the first time Peeta mentioned his favorite color, since I was thinking ahead to when they played "real or not real" and Katniss had to explain the exact orange that made orange his favorite color.

I really hope that make that whole scene or game over a few scenes good. It really is an important part of them getting their relationship back, so it needs to be done right or I(and a lot of others I'm sure) will be really mad!!

lysah | 31 comments Personally, Im not a fan of the Hunger Games trilogy. out of all the book the 2nd is my favorite just bcuz we got a peak of the other victors. I thought the ending was a build up and fell flat at the end. But none the less, I'll be at the movie theaters opening weekend :)

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
I agree that seeing the other victors was really awesome! It broke my heart to hear their stories, but at the same time it just added to the seriousness of the situation, and wanting to overthrown the capitol. One thing that made me both sad and annoyed was how few of them made it to the end of the books... There was like 5 of them? I mean...I get that there were really only 75 of them total, but for that few to make it out alive just seemed a little unrealistic. Also, I feel like there had to be some random person we did not really meet that kind of got away with being out of the limelight sort of thing... I just expected or wanted more of them left, even if they were not "allies."

message 15: by Sam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sam | 606 comments I dont think all 75 tributes were still alive at the beginning... I got the impresion some had died over the yrs? would have to check out the book to be sure :) As Katniss says no one decent ever wins the games.

message 16: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J A | 86 comments Real/not real is one of the best parts of the entire series for me. To be caught in a fragile state of mind and a broken down physical state all while having huge dramatic life altering moments unfold are no joke. A quote of part of their game in a review I read is what made me decide to read the books. It might be a backwards way of doing things, that a review for the third book got me to read the first two as well, but they were more than worth it.

message 17: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J A | 86 comments But I forgot to add that I hope they leave the epilogue out of the theaters and leave that as an extended scene on the blu ray. It may be made to look cheesy and the last thing I want to hear is people complaining about a horrible ending

I mean like 75 total in the history of the games. Naturally if the first of those was even 13 when they won their games they would be dead by the time the book began.

It's only 10:30 here so that's not too bad, but considering the week I've had and what is still to come, I need to go to bed ASAP! So, I think I'll likely head to bed soon....but sit in bed and read for who knows how long! ;)

Oh, and tomorrow I for sure won't get to sleep early since I am going to see Divergent with a friend....Why do I keep doing this to myself?! haha

I hope they do not ruin it either!! But, we shall see... I will be back from the movie pretty late, but will be on here IMMEDIATELY letting everyone know how it was for sure!!!!! :D

Marika | 187 comments Dana wrote: "I agree that seeing the other victors was really awesome! It broke my heart to hear their stories, but at the same time it just added to the seriousness of the situation, and wanting to overthrown ..."

I thought it made sense...Didn't Collin's explain that if the Capitol didn't kill them for being "traitors" the rebels attacked them for being part of the Capitol? They were easy targets...everyone knew who they were because of the games. I mean the victors were the ones that got screwed the worst for sure. And I also loved hearing their stories...it was heartbreaking but added so much depth to the books.

Marika | 187 comments J wrote: "But I forgot to add that I hope they leave the epilogue out of the theaters and leave that as an extended scene on the blu ray. It may be made to look cheesy and the last thing I want to hear is pe..."

People are going to complain no matter what. I don't care if people think its cheesy...if the epilogue isn't included in the movie I'll flip out! I waited all this time for Peeta and Katniss to be together, have kids, and start living the life of peace and joy that they so desperatly deserve after all the horrors they went through...if I don't get that I don't know what I'll do!

Marika | 187 comments Dana wrote: "I hope they do not ruin it either!! But, we shall see... I will be back from the movie pretty late, but will be on here IMMEDIATELY letting everyone know how it was for sure!!!!! :D"

Thinking more about the victors, and the points you added Marika, I think it makes sense for so few of them to be left, but I just wanted more of them alive. Like....they were the first ones to win and prove people could be powerful enough to survive even in something as terrible as the games. So, even though they were not all the mocking jay, they all stood for something awesome that was lost with their lives....

Marika | 187 comments oh yeah I totally agree with you. I also WISH that more had lived. Gosh...they went through so much more than the average citizens (who were already struggling as it is.) I was just saying that it made sense that most of them died. It sucks.

Marika | 187 comments Ya know...I wonder if they introduced Snow's granddaughter in the movie Catching Fire so that at the end of Mockingjay when they decide to do "one last games" involving the children/grandchild of Capitol members including Snow's grand daughter we have already been introduced to her. That part was so crazy to me in the book. I was pretty disapointed...I sided with Peeta and Annie on that issue for sure :(

Yeah, I think by showing her it will make it a little more intense.

I for sure sided with Peeta and Annie. I was sad when Katniss votes yes as well, since I thought she would stick with Peeta. However, I could not have been happier at all after her arrow his whats her face instead of Snow! It made me soooo happy!! haha

Totally agreed! Wanna talk about “not fair”? Don’t even get me started on Finnick! Good God! Suzanne Collins why are you so evil?! Why do you hurt our souls like this?! I mean…its so sweet and beautiful that Annie had a son to comfort/remind her…but she was also messed up…like she needed Finnick! That poor kid…ARGhhhhhhhhhhh

Shooting Coin instead of Snow was just fantastic. More awesome points for Katniss. I mean…thank God Katniss took care of that issue-waiting-to-happen. Coin probs would have been another Napoleon Bonaparte in my opinion…

:( I still like to pretend that part did not happen....cuz it was not okay!!!! I mean....Annie needed him so much!!!!!!!! I could cry just thinking about it....I am going to like DIE in the movie watching it!!

Wow....reading my comment and your comment just has me thinking how great these books are. We are THIS upset about a fictional character and the world they live in. These books are just so awesome to get that kind of response from readers! After I read them I am a mess for days...no other book has quite gotten that response from me....

Marika | 187 comments I totally agree...I read a decent amount of books but only a few leave me thinking about them/worked up about them for days, even fewer for months/years (like the Hunger Games!) Now that is the mark of a good story...when they stay with you! Even though I've re-read the trilogy a few times I'm still a mess at certain points!

Marika | 187 comments do you ever read fan fiction? I really don't but if someone knew of a good fan fiction where Finnick doesn't die I'd be SO down for reading that!!

Marika | 187 comments I feel so bad for the actor that played finnick because ppl are SO cruel and all over the internet complaining about how he's "not attractive enough."

ummm...doesn't that put us at the same, or similar, level as the Capitol? Using and abusing Finnick and his looks. Come on now.

(BTW, J, I wasn't attcking you for what you said at all...it just reminded me of some terrible things I've seen people write about the actor)

message 47: by J (new) - rated it 5 stars

J A | 86 comments Lol, after I type this I'm gonna have to get some sort of avatar that convinces people I'm straight but it isn't about his looks. He just doesn't have the swag or appearance of god given physical talent and rough edges of hard work. I figured a cross between Leonidas and Jason Statham, with a little bit of Aztec warrior for the tan and constant love making in the Capitol.

Personally, I thought he was wonderful as Finnick! I think his personality and physical appearance makes him flawless in it! He has a great body, a gorgeous smile, and amazing hair! How could anything have a problem with that?!?

message 50: by Sam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sam | 606 comments Maybe it was just me but in the book when Katniss finds out Coin's intension to do one final games she looks over at Haymitch. They have this internal "mind" agreement, that u find out after, she made the decision to kill Coin! IF she didn't say yes to one final games, and be in agreement with Coin, she would not have given permission for Katniss to shoot Snow and then not would not have given her the oportunity to kill Coin instead. In my mind they agreed that if Katniss didn't do something it would never end... the Games, the War... Peace would never be obtainable because it would always be "them" and "us".

Am I making something of a "glace" because I really didn't want her to agree to another of the Games with the Capital's children? Or did someone else see this?
