Read | 1 comments I like to avoid books that have graphic sex scenes and an excessive amount of the f-word. So I was wondering if someone could tell me if House of Suns and Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds contains this sort of content. Also, if the book Fated by Benedict Jacka contains such content as well. It would be greatly appreciated.

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 136 comments I haven't read Fated, but Alastair Reynolds's books do not contain graphic sex scenes or excessive swearing in my opinion. House of Suns contains 10 variations of the f word, none of them too bad, but YMMV. As for Redemption Ark, that's the second book in the series; if you have read Revelation Space you should know what to expect, and if you haven't you should read that first anyway.

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 136 comments Yeah, that's true. House of Suns also contains at least one pretty graphical body horror scene. Read didn't ask about that though, but worth mentioning.

Sean O'Hara (seanohara) | 2365 comments No, Reynolds' books only contain graphic violence, so it should be okay for you.

Lindsay | 593 comments Fated has nothing in the way of romance/sex, and a quick word search shows less than a dozen instances of the f-word.
