Okay, so in Mr. Weitz's class we are discussing internal conflict.

Patrick S. | 20 comments I don't really think the internal conflict in the Outsiders is really that interesting right now.

I agree Patrick I don't think there is a lot of internal conflict at the point we are up to, except the part about him and Darry loving each other.

Ilanis Rivera (NerdyBirdy12) | 18 comments And I agree with you Patrick the Internal Conflict in The Outsiders is not very interesting at the moment.

I think that him being scared of his own shadow is relatively interesting.

Ilanis Rivera (NerdyBirdy12) | 18 comments Yeah. I don't see how that works. Its a part of him that he's scared of.

Maddie Wong | 15 comments In my book The Art of Keeping Cool, Robert deals with internal conflict reveals a character. Internal conflict is a decision within a character's mind. This time period is during World War II. In my book Instead on telling the family that Elliot was talking to a German he didn't say anything. On page 41, Robert said,"There was no more time to talk just then. Grandma was in the kitchen with Carolyn getting supper ready." This shows that Robert has to make a decision to tell his grandma the truth or keep the secret. Since Robert kept the secret, he is helpful because he is helping his cousin. That is how Internal conflict reveals a character.

Deborah Suarez (Debbiereads456) | 29 comments *SPOILER if you want to read Endure do not read* In my book Endure Zara is faced with the desicsion to either avoid the battle and wait or take the evil pixies on. Of course she does the most ethical thing which is fight which shows she is a caring person willing to take risks for others. I see this situation as a conflict between her two choices.

Deborah Suarez (Debbiereads456) | 29 comments In my new book The Iron King, Meghan has to decide wether or not to beleieve Ethan about "the man in the closet". She of course has two sides she could take. One the logical side. She "knows" there are no such things as monsters. And two the thoughtful side. She knows her dog wouldnt hurt Ethan, she has reason to believe Ethan that it was someone or something else.

THIS IS MAXINE'S I JUST COPIED IT HERE---------------In my book, The Lost Conspiracy, Hathin is buried in conflict. Internally, she is wrestling with the fact that she has joined The Reckoning, which is a place where Lace (a persecuted type of person) flock to get revenge. With the possibility that the person she has to kill to get the other half of her butterfly (when you join the reckoning, you get half a butterfly tattoo) is a Hollow Beast (the name for people from a certain village) just like herself. Externally, she is attempting to escape from the Ashwalker who was recruited to kill her and her absent sister, Arilou.

Kyle Chang | 6 comments Why isn't there interesting internal conflict in The Outsiders? I know this is an old discussion.
Ex:
Johnny deciding to go home.
Whether Darry loved Johnny.
Johnny wanted to kill himself at first.
Cherry between Bob being drunk and his other side.

In my book Bunnies in the Bathroom, one of the characters John is having a problem deciding what animal to write an essay on. This is internal conflict because he is fighting with himself instead with other people.

Deborah Suarez (Debbiereads456) | 29 comments In my book The Iron King, Meghan either has the choice to either go to the Faery to save her brother AND dad possibly or stay and forget it all ever happened. She considers staying, the safe route with minor consiquences and no moral and/or physical award. But in the end she chooses the risky route with major consequences and a major moral and/or physical reward.
This is internal conflict because shes debating with herself.

Maddie Wong | 15 comments In The Art of Keeping Cool, Robert wants to see the fort when they shot on the town as a practice shooting if the germans come over to the US. But Robert's Mom told his to watch over his little sister during the practice shooting. Robert has to decide if he is going to sneak away and watch the fort shot the town or watch his little sister. He decides to sneak away and watch the fort shot the town. This shows internal conflict.

Gabi Maldonado | 9 comments I just started a new book called Flora and Ulysses. The main character Flora is a cynic but she is beginning to feel love. A cynic is someone who has a negative mindset. Flora starts to see the good in nature instead of the bad. I have not gotten very far into the book yet but I'm sure the author, Kate Dicamillo will further show this dynamicness of this character.

Maddie Wong | 15 comments In The Art of Keeping Cool, Eliot (Robert's cousin) visits this german artist. The problem is World War II is going on and if people in his town finds out he is with him, they will beat him up. Robert finds out and tells Eliot to not hang out with him. Robert doesn't not like germans but he think that Eliot could get hurt. Instead of listening to Robert, Eliot keeps on accusing him on he doesn't like germans. This shows External conflict.

Lily Ritterman-Pena | 9 comments In the book Asylum Dan's external conflict is to try to figure out whatever is haunting his dorm and there is nothing on the subject in the library, internet, ect. His internal conflict is being in love with one of his closest friends.

Deborah Suarez (Debbiereads456) | 29 comments In my book The Iron King, Meghan sees what appears to be her little brother Ethan. She has a small menatl debate about wether or not going to see him is a good idea or not, but unfortunatley her emotions overcome her logical thoughts and her logical side looses the debate.

Maxine (MaxineT) | 18 comments I have just finished my book, The Lost Conspiracy, and I have to say that I am very happy with it's conclusion. Hathin has discovered who she is, what she can become. She has resolved her revenge quest without slitting a single throat. In fact, she saved dozens of the people who had prosecuted her and her kind in the past. She also remade her bonds with her sister Arilou, who finally spoke. Guess what her first word was? You guessed right. Her first word was 'Hathin.' I think I started to cry.

On the note of external conflict, I was very surprised. I had expected the 'Lord S' of the letter to be Lord Suddenwind, not Lord Spearhead. But I suppose that is because the latter is a volcano.

Maxine (MaxineT) | 18 comments About the Johnny/shadow thing, it is an expression. When you say that someone is afraid of their own shadow, it means they are extremely jumpy/ very easily scared.

message 22: by Lily (new)

Lily Ritterman-Pena | 9 comments Maxine, I totally agree. Also, Johnny had a lot to be afraid of.

Maxine (MaxineT) | 18 comments Someone deleted my other conversation titled the same thing as this one and that had most of my work. Please put it back at least so that I can copy it.
