Niki | 9 comments Has anyone ever read anything where the protagonist is younger in the first chapter or two and then jumps in age for the rest of the book? If so, what did you think? Did it work, or was it just odd?

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I've read them in a contemporary where it was like, one year earlier, or ten years ago type and thing and it worked. It does need to be done right and not feel out of place.

Andrea Jackson (paperbackdiva) | 76 comments I think it can definitely work, if handled well. I have seen a number of books like this. You could make it a prologue. But even that isn't necessary if the story line flows well.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) Usually its a prologue in my experience, and something that is critical to the action in later years.
