Jack | 23 comments Any books that are similar to ASOIAF but SF instead? If not does anybody have any ideas for a plot that would be like it.

What the heck is ASOIAF, please?

Brian Allen (scholar97) | 18 comments ASOIAF is short for A Song of Ice and Fire, the Five book medieval fantasy series by George R.R. Martin, which is also the popular Game of Thrones series on HBO.

Jack, I would recommend James A.A. Corey's Expanse Series.

Also, check out Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune by Frank Herbert, both series have a strong GoT vibe.

Or, GoT has a Dune vibe...

(Thanks for the translation. I did read the first book, I'd just never seen that long abbreviation for it.)

Rotuma | 11 comments Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth Universe would be awesome! The series currently spans 7 books, with more to be released.

It is intelligently written, has adult concepts, dark and confronting subject matter, danger, intrigue and violence.

Michele | 274 comments Dune is the closest I know of, since it has huge worldbuilding, a large cast of characters, lots of politics and religion, social upheaval, various levels of society, the ecosystem plays a very important role, etc.
