Category: biography, non-fiction Rating:**** Summary: It is an unforgettable account of one of the most severe child abuse cases in California history. It is the story of Dave Pelzer, who was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable mother. After a while she no longer considered him a boy but an "it", and a slave not a son. Personal Reaction: When he talks about the good times with his family and wanting that to be again makes me feel so sad for he never gets that and I just think it is just horrible what his mother put him through I wonder how he survived with his insanity still in-tacked. This book was really well written because it feels like you are right there beside him the hole time watching this happen to him and you not being able to do anything about it. You knew exactly what was running through his head the entire time and how he would silently win his mom at her own game.
