I've been flying through this! Im thinking of taking the whole day tomorrow to just try and get a good chunk of this read!
Me too!!! I'm almost done, just need another sitting (well more lie down lol) and I'm done. I really like LaFevers writing--more so for Dark Triumph and this one than Grave Mercy. Annith! She's portrayed as saintly by Ismae and Sybella but now seeing it from her pov she's more kickass/well tougher than I expected!
I always thought Annith would be a goody two shoes but it seems she will strike when cornered! I also noticed that this one has less emphasis on the politics (so far) since she's just been roaming the land. Also feels more supernaturally and less historical fiction this time around.
Yup! That's what I thought too. And yep, I'm feeling the same too, though I'm a tad disappointed by that, I'm still enjoying it for Annith. I can see why people like Dark Triumph the best then Mortal Heart lol.
One thing that I am glad to see is that the Abbess is starting to be challenged. That's something that I always bothered me with the last two books. She kept doing things that seemed to go against Mortain, and yet nothing ever happened. So it's nice to see Annith challenging her. I'm at the part where Annith arrives at Rennes so I'm expecting the politics to start trickling back in
Oh yes, that she is! I'm actually a little curious about Annith and the Abbess. Like she was the only one the Abbess was nicer to. Oh! I'm passed there, there isn't really much....well there's a little, but I feel like it's more Annith's story and Annith wanting to demonstrate her skills as Mormain's daughter than on the side of politics. There's just not as much as Dark Triumph (well I feel anyway!)
I finally wrote my review of this!I couldn't process all my feelings into on coherent post. I hope I covered everything I felt!
