Read-A-Thon: Pre-reading discussion questions

With today's release of The Lake House by Kate Morton, we're kicking off our Read-A-Thon Blog tour! For the next three weeks you can read-along with four of our superb bloggers as they each present a portion of the book with discussion questions and posts!

Today we're going to kick it off with some pre-reading questions to think about before starting the book. Feel free to comment and give us your thoughts as we read through Kate Morton's newest mystery novel.

QUESTIONS:

1. In The Lake House, the story alternates between 1933 and present-day Cornwall and London– what are some defining moments of the 1930s that might influence the storyline?

2a. In The Lake House, Alice Edevane is a famous crime writer during The Golden Age of detective fiction. Does this information change how you will approach the book when reading it?

2b. Do you think Alice will be influenced by writers of the era, such Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham and Dorothy L. Sayers?

3. In the present-day story line, Sadie Sparrow is a young detective who stumbles upon an abandoned house that leads to the reopening of an unsolved case. What assumptions can you make about Sadie's character based on this little piece of information?
