Siris (the chosen) is sent to fight the God King. In an unexpected turn of events he slays him, The God King is one of the few deathless (immortal beings.) Siris takes the God King’s Infinity blade (the one thing that kill deathless). And uses this blade to try to fight back.
The conflict in this novel is that the God King, and many other deathless are power hungry and use that power to hurt and manipulate other people. All of these deathless rule people and do it selfishly. They believe themselves to be actual gods, they act with no consequences and do as they please. In order to fight back people of a town chose a family many years ago to raise one son and have him train his whole life in secret to eventually challenge the god king to a duel every few centuries. No one ever had much hope in this plan but it was their only way to fight back. When Siris was sent it was no different… After he defeated him, everything changed. Siris then immediately had conflicts are created all around him. He stole the God King's blade, for this he was hunted by the God King and his servants ferociously. Siris took it upon himself to try to save his people. And many people did not agree with this, for they looked at him as a child a foolish one at that. Little did they and he know, we was a deathless as well. He had a dark part of him self, one that had instincts and knowledge that Siris never learned on his own but he had in his past lives. But this dark self also had evil thoughts. He had to control this part of him, while fighting the God King and all of his forces.
I believe the theme of this book to be “Stand up for what is right.” When Siris first recovered the Infinity Blade he had a choice. To give the blade to someone else, to give up the only thing that gave people a chance to rebel against the God King and the other deathless. But instead he didn't, instead he chose to hold on, to be that last little bit of hope people had, to risk his life to save everyone else's. When we was told he was the sacrifice (the chosen one to fight the God King) he could have denied it, he could of turned around and ran, but he didn't he chose to stand and fight. Series time and time again stood for what he thought to be right, and in the end it payed of.
Infinity Blade Awakening by: Brandon Sanderson, was a very intriguing novel. The book was constantly exciting, and fascinating. In a medieval world, full of magic and advances in technology we only hope to achieve. This work of fantasy was unlike anything i've read before, the world that it was placed in the setting and the magic were new and incredible. Infinity blade was overall a great book.
