My official colour checker (i.e. husband) said "hmmm.. it's mustard, which I guess is dark yellow. You wouldn't call it any other colour".
So I'll take that as a yes :)

message 102: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments We've got the goal which asks for the mention of a Greek God. Kimberly's book has Atlas in it, but it seems Atlas was a Titan - the forerunner of the common Gods like Zeus. I've done a bit of a research and I think Titans actually are Gods, but could you confirm that we can use Atlas?

Posting Sonia's answer for others if they get this goal:

Before the gods, they were the titans. Atlas is definitely not a god, but, if it is for the greek god goal, I'll accept it, as long as they call him Titan or just Atlas.

Brie | 897 comments Would this be considered orange text?

Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3) by Robert Galbraith

or would this?

The Looking Glass Wars (The Looking Glass Wars, #1) by Frank Beddor

Ora (oeamis) Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas work for country scene?

Shannon (countessmom) | 4087 comments We have the goal...

"Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as north-america - plurals and spelling acceptable"

One of our goalless books is Of Mice and Men -- it has the following first page shelves: American; American-literature; usa; American classics; America

Would any of those work or does it need to specify "north" America?

I'd say yes if the cover is depicting the Earl's estate and that is described in the book as being a country estate

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments For "someone is lost" how long do they have to be lost for? I read a book where the main character is abducted and wakes up in a strange place. Other characters send out search parties she finds out where she is and makes her escape pretty quickly. Would that still count?

message 113: by Karla (new)

Karla For Read a book where MCs attends a concert/art exhibit/theater show, would a movie count or does it have to be a play?

yes if she was taken to a place she didn't know and other people didn't know where she was and went looking for her that would count

I would say no as there is a separate goal for going to a movie

message 122: by Karla (new)

Karla My team member asked me to ask about her book again. For "interconnecting families" she wants to know if a stepbrother and a stepsister dating would work. They're connected by their parents being married and then they are connecting themselves. I'm linking her message because she gave examples of your answers. If it's not too much trouble, would you please post your answer in team Sedna's thread, so she will be certain to see it. Thanks.

Posted the below, for others FYI

With the killer/victim as it goes through multiple generations that is why I considered that to count.
The member who came up with the goal sent a clarification to me to describe it as "a book that tells the stories of multiple families, who's lives intersect and connect ie Game of Thrones, Fall of Giants, The Joy Luck Club".

Personally I don't think the stepbrother/sister counts as the parents are married and with the kids that is one family unit, so who are they connected to? you'd need to have another family then to "interconnect".

Jodie (anntsy) | 223 comments For a book that starts with the letter "G" can it have "The" before it?

Yes. You can ignore "the", "a", "an" at the start of a title

Will The Winter Spirit by Indra Vaughn with a snow covered road?

(For example the Finnikin of the Rock has a German edition that is over 500p.)

Ashley | 1439 comments I'm a little confused with; Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as paperback - plurals and spelling acceptable.

Does that mean that the genre is paperback? I've never seen anything listed as that :/

Your team gets one every 2 weeks which you can trade to remove a goal in your current goals list that your team would rather not do

On a book's main page under the Genre list there's a link that says "see top shelves" (you can also get there if you click the "Genres" header on the same page). If it's on the first page of that listing it works!
Here is the link to "paperback" shelves
https://www.goodreads.com/genres/pape...

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments My two cents....look at older well known classics. For example, The Fellowship of the Ring has paperback listed.

It must be on the first page of the top shelves. So this:
https://www.goodreads.com/work/shelve...
is the first page for The Two Towers (there are 170 pages of 'top shelves' for this book)

Ah thanks - I'm used to challenges where you can only use the first main page genres - should make it easier!

...It just clicked that the goal says shelf and not genre. Whoops - need to read better!

I asked the other mods and Renee says "I thought it looked like a road going between the rows of trees. It's covered in snow, so hard to tell, but I'd say yes. "

So you can use it :)
