Our goal is °Read a book with a homophone in the title Homophones Does that mean we can read something like A Twist in the Tale tale has the homophone tail or do we need something like The Tail Begins: Tales from School Book 1 with both words in the title ?
Just one is fine, so A twist in the tale counts and the reason in the spreadsheet would be tale/tail
What happens when you get the same goal twice? We'll get the points when we enter a different book into the correct spots, right?
Goals are random, so it can happen you'll get same goal. You'll just have to do it again or use boon. Not sure I understand second question. Did you put book in wrong goal?

I assume (and I could be wrong) that she was just worried that the spreadsheet would recognize it was the same goal and not count it twice. So I believe that yes, as long as you are entering the new book into the new goal line (even if it is a repeated goal) it will count again.

That's exactly what I meant. Sorry for the confusion, Tea. And thanks for the answer, Karsyn!
According to my dictionary they are different words (-es or -ed or -ing would be ok) and definitions so I would say no
General goals question - when do completed goals go away and new ones appear? We completed some yesterday but they're still on the spreadsheet. Thanks.
One your captain / co-captain assigns a book to a goal on your team spreadsheet a new goal is auto generated
We've got a goal which says: Read a book from your TBR that one of your teammates has already readDoes the teammate have to have read it during the challenge, or could they have read it any time?

Read at any time. Just needs to be on their "read" shelf :)

Our goal is "Read a book about interconnecting families"Not sure what this means - would a foster brother and sister getting together work for this?
For the goal "character has a surprising and unexpected talent", does it count if it's something they've worked to achieve but is surprising to the other characters?

I'm checking with the other mods as I'm not 100% ;)

Works for me if they surprise others with their unexpected talent!

Does a book that shows the relationship between a stepbrother/stepsister where their parents are married counts as interconnecting families?
Would the shelf "recommended" work for goal:Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as recommendations - plurals and spelling acceptable
Sorry for the delay
Def: "Interconnecting Families" : to become mutually connected
So it's more towards when two people marry and the families interconnect. So I'd lean towards in-law situations
Examples are
The Joy Luck Club, Fall of Giants, A Game of Thrones

Yes, small variations on spelling like that are fine

For interconnecting families, does this work?MARY: Unleashed. Its a ghost story with two families. One is the killers family. The other the victim. It goes back generations. Somewhere down the line a marriage also puts them together.

For the goal: Read a book with the word teach, teacher, coach or help (plurals are acceptable) in the title do teaching, coaching or helping count?I'm too tired to search *sad face*
Sandy wrote: "We have a goal for phrase "last straw" - would final straw work?"
Yes, provided used in a way that has the same meaning
Last Straw: the last in a series of unpleasant events which finally makes you feel that you cannot continue to accept a bad situation
e.g.,One night he came home drunk at 5 o'clock in the morning and that was the last straw. ; He'd been unhappy at work for a long time but the last straw came when he was refused promotion. (often + for ) ; Lucy leaving was the last straw for him and he pretty much gave up the will to live.

I'm very confused. Does "Read a book that starts with the letter H" mean that the title has to start with an H, that the text does, or either/or?Because I see lots of goals that include "title" in the goal name. So shouldn't this one say, "Read a book that has a title starting with the letter H" if it's title only?
I just finished a book that has as its opening sentence, "He could no longer fool himself." Can this book count for "Read a book that starts with the letter H"?

It is title
Sorry for the confusion. Inconsistency can happen when multiple people write goals

Oh. :'( Okay. Thanks.
Can someone with editing permission update the text for those goals to specify that it's the title that has to start with an H (or an A, B, C...)? Pretty please?
For the goal, "characters go on a road trip",..I read
The 2 MCs drive from their smal town in CA to Las Vegas. Would that qualify?

Sounds like a road trip to me, but just an opinion. However that looks like an interesting series, I just added the 1st book to my tbr list.

I love Elizabeth Hunter! She's an auto buy for me. She's self published so I don't think she gets the recognition she deserves, but you'd never be able to tell when you read her work.
