Six of Crows, by Leigh Bardugo (Young Adult BOM) ; Start Date November 22, 2015
What is a BOM (Book of the Month)?
At NRBC we use a more structured approach to our BOMs. We have a discussion leader and a reading date is set to start the book. A reading schedule is posted prior to the start date and discussion questions are posted each day regarding that section of the book.

Tower Teams Points for BOMs
For current BOM (Book of the Month) discussions
Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points
Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion) = 20 points
NOTE: We will accept one team member per book per team for writing a days DQs. If, by three days prior to the BOM starting, we don't have enough volunteers to write all DQs, then we will let more than one team member per team write questions. If we have more people than days sign up (prior to 3 days before start date) we will randomise the volunteers to determine those who can write DQs

I'll totes write questions. I read it already and Loved it. I will happily reread it a month later.
I may have to buy it as well, but thought I would do my darnedest to get it from the library (I try to always get my books for free or I would have a large credit card bill).
I'm just saying, the hardcover has black-edged pages! (So pretty)
Same here RebeccaS. I very rarely buy books (maybe 4 a year from the 150-ish I read), but I'm a fan of Bardugo and I get more out of books reading with others ;)
Of nice Rebecca! I love books that have little touches like that. I particularly like a drawing or two inside too

I also love 6OC so much that I made this:
I love reading books with other people. It helps me pick up books I might not have read on my own and it makes me really think about everything I'm ready so I can discuss.
Oooh love that Rebecca. Now I'm super excited to start! This will be the first book I've ever read by this author.
I always try to get my books from the library before I think about buying it. If I had to buy all the books I wanted to read I would need about 10 jobs. LOL. I was lucky that my reserve but I haven't picked it up yet because I figured the longer it's on the shelf the longer I get to hold on to it and closer to start date. But I'm going to have to get it soon before they send it back to its library.
cute Rebecca ;)
My libraries are great, but books are generally released here a little later so they all have this "on order".
I do that too Carmen as they give a week to pick it up and then another 3 weeks on loan :D

This has been on my wish list for ages. I'm in and volunteer for DQ' s.Gives me an excuse to splash out and buy it :-)
On a long list of holds from two different library systems I have access to. Fingers crossed one comes up towards the middle or end of the month. So then I can join in.
Don't feel like I can volunteer to do Questions. However if it is needed closer Karen you could ask me. I would love to get the extra points for Coyote if I am able.
I read somewhere that the book is set in the The Grisha world. Is it required to read the trilogy first before starting this one? I read Shadow and Bone but I was wondering if there might be spoilers for the later books in this one.
Audrey Jane, it's set in the same world as the Grisha Trilogy, but is not a spin off of that series. You don't need to read the Grisha books to start this series. That said, if you end up liking this one, the Grisha books might be a great filler while you wait for book two to come out!

There are spoilers about the conclusion of the trilogy. None of the characters in 6OC played a large part in the trilogy. In fact only one of the characters in 6OC was in the Grisha Trilogy with evidence (Siege and Storm) and that character's part in the Grisha Trilogy less than a page.
6OC takes place 2 years after TGT.

Same here!
My libraries have Overdrive, Bolinda and Oneclick Digital. Between them I get the majority of my audiobooks and many of my books as ebooks

I agree it can be hard to know what kinds of books we like as we grow older.
I think it's a matter of finding a book or author you love and then seeking recommendations for similar book genres or writing styles. So if you find you love this book, there are loads of others the members here could recommend. The Goodreads "recommendations" can also be helpful to find similar books
Another way is to join a book club (IRL or as you have done here with NBRC) and read a BOM a month. Sometimes just discussing books with others, even books you don't enjoy, can help to determine what kinds of books are worth picking up

P.s you could also join a team challenge like we have starting soon with Tower Teams where your team mates will be able to give loads of book recs!

Love that with the Digital books we can use SO many more library systems.

Just don't forget that re-reads less than 6 months apart can't be used for Tower Teams, meaning that you won't be earning any points with this discussion.
You can always be part of it, of course, the more, the merrier!
