Jeremy | 4 comments hi i have read a book quite some time ago it is probably qualified as a "young adult" and i remember the gist of it
the main story line is about a group of women who through time evolve into a sort of hive like society where one teenager is chosen to be the new "queen". As such she is kind of forced to have sex with a man and after having sex with him only once she gets pregnant multiple times like some insects (bees i think) who keep a pocket full of the unused semen.
I do not remember the begining but the very end of the series is in the future where a militia of some sort (maybe an army) raid a spatial outpost where one of the hives is established and the "queen" exudes pheromones that forces the invading forces to wear masks because otherwise they will succumb to her will.
I know that is not much to go on but i don't think there are many books like that. If anybody knows the title or the author please reply on the thread.
Thank you very much

Aerulan | 1317 comments It's been ages since I read this and my memories are super fuzzy but maybe take a look at Wyrms by Orson Scott Card. Some of those elements fit the bits I remember about that one.

Jeremy, have you had a chance to check out Andy's suggestion @6?

I'm going to second Andy on Coalescent. Jeremy's description fits it exactly, although I wouldn't put these books in the Y/A category.

Jeremy hasn't been on GR since January, 2016. So I'm guessing we can move this down to Abandoned

What we normally do is move a thread to Abandoned 2 years after a mod has asked the OP if they are still searching (post #7). This gives users who don't access the site all that often a chance to have their thread still considered active, rather than Abandoned where everyone will forget about it.

I agree after reading reviews this sounds like the right book. Moving to Solved.
