the movie was much better ... which is rare ...

damn. someone really hated the book. That's the way it was written and It was done very nicely. It's meant to look and sound like history.

I Really liked the originality of the way Goldman Wrote the bits Of the unnabridged version in the book

I have to absolutely agree with you. It was truly dreadful compared to the original story, and with such a short section of writing he almost ruined two of the characters completely. Fezzik and Inigo were still wonderful, but I almost started to dislike Buttercup and started to feel somewhat resentful towards Westley.
I wold rather get a whole book about Inigo going to find his lost love, but he would have to seriously fix some thing with that "Buttercup's baby" chapter if he was going to adapt it into a full novel.

I first saw the movie when I was 12 and loved it to bits and I still do but more recently I wanted to find out what the book was about and what things couldn't be put in the movie what interesting bits had been left out. but I found the book hard going and it was only the snatches that reminded me of the film that kept me going.. in this instance the film is better than the book !!

Here's one for you: which one will be finished first, the musical or the sequel? Let's make it a bet, shall we?
