Do you think william goldman should write a sequel to the princess bride?

Based on the snippet of 'Buttercup's Baby' that he wrote ... I'd say, NO, absolutely not. It was awful (well, ok, Inigo's love story wasn't bad, but the rest was terrible).
Pretty sure it was considered, I vaguely recall an interview where Goldman said he was trying to write a sequel but it just wasn't working, and this was years ago so he likely gave up and shelved it. Better no book than a half-assed one the writer isn't satisfied with.

That's the way it was written and It was done very nicely. It's meant to look and sound like history.

to each their own, i loved the internal story, in the beginning the "adaptation" was fresh, but it wore real thin ...
I think he should. I loved that book. It was a little slow in the beginning, but it was worth the wait.
I remember reading this when it first came out and at the end of the book I think there was an authors note saying if you sent the publishers your address you would receive a continuation of the book. A very long time passed, I think a few years later and forgetting all about this I received in the mail a form letter informing me Goldman decided not to write it. Does this sound formiliar to anyone else?

It was truly dreadful compared to the original story, and with such a short section of writing he almost ruined two of the characters completely. Fezzik and Inigo were still wonderful, but I almost started to dislike Buttercup and started to feel somewhat resentful towards Westley.
I wold rather get a whole book about Inigo going to find his lost love, but he would have to seriously fix some thing with that "Buttercup's baby" chapter if he was going to adapt it into a full novel.
I would have to say a resounding no. I first saw the movie when I was 12 and loved it to bits and I still do but more recently I wanted to find out what the book was about and what things couldn't be put in the movie what interesting bits had been left out. but I found the book hard going and it was only the snatches that reminded me of the film that kept me going.. in this instance the film is better than the book !!
I don't know. I disagree with some of the earlier commenters about the excerpts from the sequel. I really liked it, especially the parts about the whirlpool and Fezzik's relationship with the baby. I'm just not sure he could sustain the quality of the first book over another one without the concepts wearing thin, now matter how good the content is. And I kind of like the way the excerpts just hang there, as a sense that there's more to this world and that these characters keep going without giving all the answers. So I guess my answer is no, there shouldn't be a sequel, but man do I want to know what happens to everyone.
I would say that The Princess Bride is great as it is. I read the short of Buttercups Baby and it felt like it went a bit off the rails.
Ask Harper Lee how that worked out for her.
