So..several times in the book they talk about how magic doesn't work against the Shun-tuk. One of the reasons Zedd, Nicci and so on left Richard and Kahlan in the wagon and ran for it, only to end up captured, was because they couldn't get their magic to work.
But then towards the end of the book, once they all to get out of the caves. Suddenly everyone's magic works just fine. Zedd, Nicci even Samantha's mother are casting Magic about with no trouble at all. Taking all everyone with no problem at all. There is no explanation, no one seems surprised..nothing. It made no sense. Half the problem they where in was because they couldn't use their magic.

Also, like some others, I did notices a lot of repeat paragraphs and such through out the book. It was like you have to write so many pages and run out of stuff to really say so instead you just fill it in with something already said where ever you think you can make it fit into the story line again. Kinda feels the way with so many pages of Richard in the cave with Sam. Didn't think they would ever leave. Maybe should have had the other chars in the book a bit more. Spent a lot of time getting to know and love the other chars.. and they were barely in this book.

And killing Ben.. REALLY?? Him and Cara barely had a relationship.. between being more apart than together through the war.. they didn't even get to overly enjoy their wedding night because of "being watched". They never really got to be husband and wife.. and then Ben gets killed.. That really sucks. Doubt you will convince another Mord Sith to marry.

Gotta say,the last few books even before The Omen Machine, I spent more time angry or aggravated by them and find myself just scanning over several pages, as one thing after another turns the "heros" into defenceless captors of some complete jerk or the other. It seems like the bad guys are provoking more of a response than the good guys. I get so mad at the jerks, but then so let down because our heros never really seem to dish out the justice befitting their crimes, or even some good ole fashioned revenge. Why can't they get the weakness of losing their temper and really making a bad guy suffer, instead of just just being made weak in general all the time?

I have loved these books for several years and turned family and friends onto these books, who also ended up loving them. I just go another friend reading them after I got the omen Machine and decided to reread the whole series again first. I don't think I will recommend past Confessor.
