I'm up to chapter 21. Lady B knows the identity of the SP and is on his trail. It's exciting!

I just finished chapter 23. Yes, she is on his trail!

Sounds wonderful Sheila how was yours Jennifer? We had no one this year. Very low key . No rushing the food. I read throughout the day because I had time. I enjoyed it a lot. I am just starting 25. On the questionable lodgings for lady b made me ha ha she ate the food but didn't really want to. I am worried about things while she is left alone.

We hosted on Tuesday evening, it was fun. I worked yesterday, but it was very quiet, so it was nice.

Okay, I plowed through and finished. I got a couple chapters from the end, and got engrossed and had to see what was going to happen! But I will sit here patiently now and wait for the rest of you to finish. :-)

I read a lot yesterday. I am on 27 so I will be done today. I agree the last few chapters have helped me to keep reading. Looking forward to final thoughts.

I have finished! It was fun, but a bit cuter than I would have expected.

It was a bit less of a story than I was expecting, more of a drawn out short story than a novel. I started suspecting the Jew at the end though, thought there was something up with him!

I was suspicious of him as well, Sheila. The SP must be a true master of disguise to conceal his identity from his wife and chief enemy, both of whom are desperately searching for him!

What did you think of this book mostly being told from the POV of Lady B? I wasn't expecting that.

I felt the same about it being drawn out for me. I thought the return of Armand was anticlimactic given how she cried and weeped for her dear brother. That is a good question Jennifer I liked it from her viewpoint and it made sense to me. I only think Cheuvelin might have worked also.
