It took me several chapters to really get into the story. The first part of the novel establishes the main characters and their backgrounds. After that, the story picked up as the plot got more intriguing and the characters met and connected with each other. What a story! It is definitely a creepy and scary book. The supernatural world is real and a dark force is terrorizing New York. I put the next book in the series on my to-read list.

I am struggling to find a book to fill this category, and though I've read the entire Gemma Doyle trilogy, by the same author, I never though to use The Diviners, even though it's been on my to-read list since I heard it was coming out. I'll definitely move this up my list and use it for book that scares me!
It's very different from the Gemma Doyle trilogy. Starts kind of slow, but it's definitely a great read. Best wishes!
I just finished this one and I loved it! You were right, Amanda, it does start kind of slow, mainly because it's building up the characters and the main plot, but it picks up towards the middle. It was a great read and there were some pretty creepy parts! I'm looking forward to get my hands on the next book!
