AgCl there have been discussions on which character/ you'd want to be, if you were part of the Hunger Games World but i'm just curious, who would be the one character you would NOT ever want to be?

oh and lets take out President Snow because he's a too obvious choice. Obviously.

Priyanka Sen Katniss Everdeen´s mom, first losing her husband then, SPOILER!!!! her daughter.

AgCl Priya wrote: "Katniss Everdeen´s mom, first losing her husband then, SPOILER!!!! her daughter."

...and she temporarily lost her sanity as well

Emma In the hunger games: Katniss

In other fiction: Theon Greyjoy (anyone who has read/watched game of thrones would probably agree with me)
And the maze runner: Teresa - because she is a bitch!

Dhfan4life Katniss, Rue, Finnick, hell even Gale and Peeta.

Annie Cresta. Losing Finnick in the final book, who is one of the few people who understand her after what she went through in her games, as well as her mental state after, not including Katniss and the other surviving victors. She loses him when they are finally back together and starting a family.

Jojo Gale.

Nuran No one in Hunger Games, they all have it tough.

Or a perverse since of entertainment if you are from the Capitol.

Samuel Gatz I would never want to be Peeta, he lost every member of his family, was tortured by Snow and lost the ability to love Katniss

Reem Alhakim Finnick. Poor Finnick...

message 12: by Benedict (new) - added it

Benedict Peng Katniss. She loses her father. Then Madge. Then Darius. Then Finnick. Then Prim. Then District 12. She lost so many people, it's impossible not to feel bad yourself. This book is depressing.

Benedict Peng Oh, and she loses Gale, who she really likes, and has to marry Peeta, who she didn't really like to begin with

Blackbutterfly Benedict wrote: "Oh, and she loses Gale, who she really likes, and has to marry Peeta, who she didn't really like to begin with"

Yes she didn't really like Peeta.. She just REALly loves him.

“You love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him, "Real.”

Anyways, I wouldn't want to be Peeta. I don't want to have a somewhat abusive parent(both verbally and physically), be reaped, or to kill people, or to lose any of my limbs, or to have all of my family killed, even probably some of my friends, be tortured and have my brain picked apart and be turned into something that I'm not and somehow be expected to put myself back together.

“Yo..."

What???? He loses a limb? Maybe I accidentaly skipped that part. I still think Katniss was the most unfortunate, because she has so much internal conflict. She wanted to hang herself for ****'s sake!

message 16: by Benedict (new) - added it

Benedict Peng i didn't really curse. I just put in the stars to censor myself. The website doesn't censor you. Type in a bad word, and it will not be censored.

Benedict Peng I still can't believe Finnick died. I stopped reading for a while after that, so i wouldn't cry. He was one of the main characters. How could he die? I guess Suzanne Collins used that to her advantage when she was writing the book.

Blackbutterfly Benedict wrote: "Blackbutterfly wrote: "Benedict wrote: "Oh, and she loses Gale, who she really likes, and has to marry Peeta, who she didn't really like to begin with"

Yes he did. He loses his left leg in the first book. It's not really about who's the most unfortunate because pretty much all of them are unfortunate. I don't even want to be Gale because I don't think I'll be able to handle the guilt. But I guess there's just something about people forcing you to your worst, taking away your freedom of self, and the raping of mind and memories that really makes me hate Peeta's fate the most. (Although he healed but that's him... add to that his other miseries... personally I won't be able to handle it)

I guess being in the games really messed up all of them. Haymitch is probably slowly trying to kill himself with alcohol, Peeta even asked Katniss to kill him etc. etc.

Nuran He doesn't lose his left leg, he badly injured it but the audience gave Katniss medicine to save it and him.

message 20: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma No, and then they take him and katniss out of the arena but the capitol people can't save his leg and he looses it and gets a prosthetic one.

message 21: by Benedict (new) - added it

Benedict Peng Even though I think Katniss was the most unfortunate, I agree with you, Blackbutterfly. Everyone was unfortunate. Haymitch was drunk, Peeta lost the leg, and got hijacked, Anne lost Finninck right after the wedding. Boggs gets killed trying to save Katniss, along with Castor and the other tattoed lady-I forgot her name- Haymitch is drunk, and Gale loses Katniss to Finnick. Someone shoot me through the head. Must I go on?

I actually felt that Gale lost Katniss to the games in general. Cause he actually foresaw them getting together and living on in district 12 and having their own family. But Katniss totally was not emotionally feeling NONE of that with anybody before the games. And then once she was thrust into the games and got the pressure on her. It eventually got her to be open enough to have feelings for Peeta.

But not only that, but the games just made Katniss change her stance on not EVER wanting to fight back against the Capitol. To only fighting for those she cared about. Vs. Gale who just wanted to strike back against the Capitol cause he was tired of feeling so oppressed. And therein that put them on opposite sides of why they were fighting and totally and completely destroyed their friendship. Along with the whole bomb thing with Prim.

Nuran Emma wrote: "No, and then they take him and katniss out of the arena but the capitol people can't save his leg and he looses it and gets a prosthetic one."

Ok, you're right, it was a fact I totally forgotten and assumed the medicine did save it when remembering what happened.

Benedict Peng So we can all agree Katniss was the most unfortunate? Well, I guess we are naturally sympathetic for the narrator, or whoever's point of view the story is told.

Not always, I've read stories where I wished the author had chosen someone else to tell the story, lol. But yea Katniss you couldn't help feeling for her. Almost like reading a story about someone from the projects that gets thrown into something even worse.

message 26: by Benedict (new) - added it

Benedict Peng I just read the series again. The books are as amazing as ever. Now that I think about it, I feel bad for Buttercup, losing his old home, getting kicked out of 13, losing Prim, and having to track down district 12 all by himself. Poor kitty.

message 27: by Izzy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Izzy I wouldn't ever want to be Katniss. She went through so much trouble just to save Prim. The whole thing started just to save Prim! And (SPOILER!!!!!!!!!) she dies anyway! And then she loses everyone else. Since she killed Coin, the only people she has contact with were Haymitch and Peeta, so she technically lost her mother and everyone else she loved who moved away too.

Priyanka Sen I don't think I would want to be Katniss's mom. First she went through the death of her husband and completley shattered than was afraid of losing a daughter and actually did lose a daughter.

message 29: by Benedict (new) - added it

Benedict Peng This book was downright depressing! :(
It was good though. :)

message 30: by Rhi (new) - added it

Rhi haymitch
he lost the love of his life in the games then his family is killed by snow and then he starts drinking because he is having to send all these kids to their deaths that he would like to live.
effie
she has to go through the pain of picking the kids that are going to die and she is sad because of that
ceaser
he has to interveiw all the kids that are going to die and i think that makes him depressed. he is having to make sure that he does not show that he is sad. he has to interveiw peeta when he is being tortured and not be sad about that. i also think that he is being tortured if he says something wrong. he is constintly being reminded that he was one of the people that sent those kids to die.

Cosmo412 Priya wrote: "I don't think I would want to be Katniss's mom. First she went through the death of her husband and completley shattered than was afraid of losing a daughter and actually did lose a daughter."

And then she moved away from her other living daughter.

Cosmo412 I would not want to be President Snow. I would never find joy in sending a bunch of kids into an arena where they fight to the death. And I would never want to die by being beaten up by people from the Capitol.

Haymitch was sad too, he lost everyone he loved and just started to throw away his life by drinking.

Cosmo412 Nuran wrote: "He doesn't lose his left leg, he badly injured it but the audience gave Katniss medicine to save it and him."

In the movie that's what happened, but in the book it said that they still had to give him a new leg even with the medicine.

Amanda Artist Cat I wouldn't want to be Johanna Mason. She has no friends or anyone to love, unlike all the others 😢
Johanna, I feel for you!

message 35: by Katherine (last edited Apr 17, 2020 07:31AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katherine Reilly Haymitch because he won the 50th Hunger Games and then went to the Hunger Games to mentor tributes for 24 years and coming back to District 12 with neither of the tributes each time. So as the years passed and he kept losing, he kept going into a depressed state. He always made sure he was a bit sober when he took kids to the Capital, because he wanted hope to bring them home at the end. When they died he would get really drunk.

Geenah I wouldn't want to be any of them. They all have terrible lives.

message 37: by CA (new) - rated it 3 stars

CA I wouldn't want to be a combination of six.
1) Johanna Mason: She literally said in Catching Fire, she lost who she loved
2) Cinna: He loved Katniss & understood her. He was Katniss's friend from the Capitol
3) Alma Coin: She was, in my opinion, evil/rude because she lost her husband and daughter/son
4) Haymitch: Imagine losing your brother, your mother, and YOUR GIRLFRIEND! Yea, that happened to Haymitch
5) Annie Cresta: She lost her husband mid-pregnancy. I (STRONGLY) believe though that Mrs. Everdeen brought Annie's son to exisitence. Annie was crazy after she witnessed the beheading of her district partner. She lost family. And friends.

And...........................................
6) Wiress: She was crazy, yea go figure, but she also was crazy smart! I loved Wiress in the book/film. Amanda Plummer did wonderful! And I would fall to my death so I could be with her

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saddest Deaths (for me)
1. Wiress (D3F) (75th)
2. Prim (D12)
3. Mags (D4F) (75th)
4. Unnamed Female Morphling (D6F) (75th)
5. Finnick (D4)
6. Mr. Everdeen (D12)
7. Seeder (D11) (75th)
8. Pres. Snow
9. Pres. Coin
and somuch more......
