Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I believe, though, that is the reason why we are asked what country we are from when we sign up. If not Aussie/NZ entirely, the mods generally do a good job of fixing people up from similar time zones at the very least.

But yes, I will get enjoyment out of there not being 50 odd replies to read through every morning when I wake up ;)

Yes we try not to have just one person from a different time zone, but cluster people together ;)
I agree with GG...I would wake up to over 100 posts which was difficult to keep on top of!!

I'm in Japan so I would only be an hour or two off from you guys, if you'll have me. ^_^

eta: Oo, but the diverse time zone argument makes sense, too. Hmm!

We'd just need a group to help us with our addiction to the anonymous group. You know how it goes!

That is a really nice magical door. I want to go to there.

Yay!

I feel like Dorothy after she awakens. "And you were there, and you were there...", as I see all my friends from other groups popping in here.

Chava | 1522 comments I'm signed up. I am going back to work (I've been on maternity leave since Feb), which means I can listen to audiobooks to and from work as well as during work in the car. I hope to get through more books than I've done so far...

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I'm doing that thing where I play catch-up after everyone goes to sleep in my time zone and now I wonder if people will think I'm just talking to myself here...

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Us Aussies are still here, Teresa. It's only 4.05 pm here on Friday.

I didn't know Japan was only two hours behind us - you can be an honorary Aussie, Kazen, LOL.

Lol muffin
Lisa's right - we Australians / kiwis are all here somewhere

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Hehe, I knew you were around here somewhere!

I should be in bed! I work at 10 in the morning. *grumble and whine*

Note: I am still not in bed.

I am honored to be an honorary Aussie! :D There are even times of year where Japan is only one hour off, as we don't have daylight savings.

Well, we do have one team all Aussie/Asian. And a few all American timezones. The ones we have mixed, I'm trying to put at least three members from each. And I'm trying that for the mixed teams, to have one of the captain/co-captain from each time zone. Is not easy, since we already passed the 200 participant mark. When I got one team near the "closed" mark. I check them all to see if any readjustment needs to be made.

Of course, mods make mistakes too, and is my first time doing them, so, I hope anything works for the best.

Now onto checking Lisa's team.

Disclaimer: No refund policy will be implemented.

LOL

Kazen Dear Aussies,

I'm thrilled that you've (honorarily) accepted me as one of your own... but was it necessary to send an ambassador quite so quickly?

(Fear not, the cat was merely establishing friendly relations before escorting the ambassador out the front door.)

Yep, I don't think I'm going to do ANY alliances with the Aussies any time soon. Or the Asian, just in case they have more ambassadors to spare.

NBRC is a very well loved hobby, even if all the number crunches sometimes drive us insane. Seeing all the excitement around and everybody's kind words makes all the times we felt like this

Worth it! ;)

Yeah... some are really speed readers

I read a lot during the first round of gladiators... but just because I was on "incident duty" meaning waiting for the incidents to occur and forward them for the right team.

Mostly... I only had to wait for the email to arrive and do some reports. Aka. I could have a book open on my computer and read all day.

Actually, I'm at the same task at the moment, which is one of the reasons I keep all day here and planning tower teams... :)

Because if I threatened everybody that is trying to scare all newcomers they would ran away anyway, because of the evil mod.

I've done it one time before. I'm trying to decide if I want to start today, or get as much sleep as I can. It starts at 8 AM my time tomorrow morning. I don't even know what 8AM looks like on a Saturday.

LOL!! I say get as much sleep as you can today. It's fun when everyone gets started at once! Do you follow the posts and such at the blog?

It starts at 8am for me as well, and though I usually sleep in everyday, I'm all set to get up early. Each time I've done it, I've gone the full 24 hours and plan to again this time. Will you be doing all 24 hours?

Yes, I will be doing all 24 hours. I signed up using my Twitter even though I don't even get on twitter. How do you decide when you are going to go check social media?

message 299: by Sarah-jane (new)

Sarah-jane | 144 comments I am new to all this : may I be curious and ask what the Dewey's readathon challenge is ? :)

message 300: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Sarah-jane ~ it's nothing here at GR. It's done on a blog ~ Dewey's 24 Hr Read-a-Thon. It's been going for 8 years and is done 2 times a year. Basically the goal is to read as much as you can in 24 hours, and visit the blogs/social media of others joining in. It's a ton of fun and hundreds join in, sometimes right around 1000 readers!
