Introductions and Pre Challenge Chat!
Yes we try not to have just one person from a different time zone, but cluster people together ;)
I agree with GG...I would wake up to over 100 posts which was difficult to keep on top of!!

eta: Oo, but the diverse time zone argument makes sense, too. Hmm!

We'd just need a group to help us with our addiction to the anonymous group. You know how it goes!

That is a really nice magical door. I want to go to there.

I feel like Dorothy after she awakens. "And you were there, and you were there...", as I see all my friends from other groups popping in here.
I'm signed up. I am going back to work (I've been on maternity leave since Feb), which means I can listen to audiobooks to and from work as well as during work in the car. I hope to get through more books than I've done so far...
I'm doing that thing where I play catch-up after everyone goes to sleep in my time zone and now I wonder if people will think I'm just talking to myself here...
Us Aussies are still here, Teresa. It's only 4.05 pm here on Friday. I didn't know Japan was only two hours behind us - you can be an honorary Aussie, Kazen, LOL.
Hehe, I knew you were around here somewhere! I should be in bed! I work at 10 in the morning. *grumble and whine*
Yeah, but you often come along and respond so I don't feel quite so lonely, lol!Note: I am still not in bed.
True....you're welcome! I'm about to head to bed....so I know you should be! It's after 1am for you!
Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "I didn't know Japan was only two hours behind us - you can be an honorary Aussie, Kazen, LOL."I am honored to be an honorary Aussie! :D There are even times of year where Japan is only one hour off, as we don't have daylight savings.

And I'm trying that for the mixed teams, to have one of the captain/co-captain from each time zone. Is not easy, since we already passed the 200 participant mark. When I got one team near the "closed" mark. I check them all to see if any readjustment needs to be made.
Of course, mods make mistakes too, and is my first time doing them, so, I hope anything works for the best.
Now onto checking Lisa's team.

It isn't easy Sonia, so just do the best you can and trust it will all work out in the end ;)

I hope so. Right now I think I have too many teams and too few players *giggles*
Dear Aussies,I'm thrilled that you've (honorarily) accepted me as one of your own... but was it necessary to send an ambassador quite so quickly?

(Fear not, the cat was merely establishing friendly relations before escorting the ambassador out the front door.)
Okay...laughing out loud at work is not advisable. But that is too funny!Courteous cat. My Simba would probably be all "I see no diplomatic flag, I'll take it as hostile visit"
*giggles*

Yep, I don't think I'm going to do ANY alliances with the Aussies any time soon. Or the Asian, just in case they have more ambassadors to spare.

Eeek, that is seriously creepy! Spiders are THE WORST!
Yikes, that is a big spider!I just wanted to say thanks for all the set-up and prep work! I've done one challenge with a different group and it was so fun - this one sounds fantastic.
Thanks Suzanne, much appreciated.NBRC is a very well loved hobby, even if all the number crunches sometimes drive us insane. Seeing all the excitement around and everybody's kind words makes all the times we felt like this

Worth it! ;)
The only thing crazy about my wheel-a-thon group was the mind blowing speed with which some of those women finished books.
Alex wrote: "The only thing crazy about my wheel-a-thon group was the mind blowing speed with which some of those women finished books."Yeah... some are really speed readers
I read a lot during the first round of gladiators... but just because I was on "incident duty" meaning waiting for the incidents to occur and forward them for the right team.
Mostly... I only had to wait for the email to arrive and do some reports. Aka. I could have a book open on my computer and read all day.
Actually, I'm at the same task at the moment, which is one of the reasons I keep all day here and planning tower teams... :)
The spider picture made me yelp out loud and totally confused the guy sitting across from me in the airport.
I'm 41 books behind........I'm doing the Dewey's readathon tomorrow and I'm also hoping that this challenge will help me catch up on my goal.

Because if I threatened everybody that is trying to scare all newcomers they would ran away anyway, because of the evil mod.

- well, obviously because I'm nicer than you *snickers* ;)
... Okay I couldn't say that with a straight face =P
I'll *try* not to scare anyone off, but no promises ;)

I can't believe I paired you too.... goodreads will implode...
Well... if you don't behave, I'm going not only separate you but putting you in two different mentors!

I've done it one time before. I'm trying to decide if I want to start today, or get as much sleep as I can. It starts at 8 AM my time tomorrow morning. I don't even know what 8AM looks like on a Saturday.
Eldarwen wrote: "Seconded! *puts on halo and makes sure it sits tight* "Don't forget to polish it so it really shines ;)

It starts at 8am for me as well, and though I usually sleep in everyday, I'm all set to get up early. Each time I've done it, I've gone the full 24 hours and plan to again this time. Will you be doing all 24 hours?

Yes, I will be doing all 24 hours. I signed up using my Twitter even though I don't even get on twitter. How do you decide when you are going to go check social media?
Sarah-jane ~ it's nothing here at GR. It's done on a blog ~ Dewey's 24 Hr Read-a-Thon. It's been going for 8 years and is done 2 times a year. Basically the goal is to read as much as you can in 24 hours, and visit the blogs/social media of others joining in. It's a ton of fun and hundreds join in, sometimes right around 1000 readers!
