How have they changed

Consider the characters of Max and Kevin. Both of them have changed since the beginning of the story. Choose one of the two. Explain their personality traits at the start of the story, how they are different now and what events in the story contributed to the way they have changed.

[Sylvia]

Max changed throughout the story by getting more nice and gentle. In the beginning of the story Max had no friends and was more lonely, he felt worse about himself. For example, he kept calling himself "stupid" and "dumb." By the end of the story Max was more excepting to change. Also, he was more comfortable confident about himself. An example of how much more comfortable he got is learning how to write and writing a whole story about their adventures.

[Benjamin]

Max at the beginning of the story was sad and was getting made fun of. Also, Max was thinking how dumb he was and he was feeling like nobody cared about him. At the end of the story Max was happier and felt like people actually cared about him. Also, at the end he started to open up and could read and write(he got a lot smarter). Like at the end of the book he wrote about his adventures with Kevin. Also, at the end of the story he knew the answer to the questions in class because he read the books.

In the beginning, Max was completely un-self confident and Kevin had no one to stick up for him. Examples are in the whole be beginning Max said he didn't have a brain and felt like he couldn't do things. Kevin in the beginning didn't have any friends and in the end of the book he had a really good friend except then he died. I think Max changed because he was hardened by having to have the bad experience with his dad. In my group's opinion Freak's personality didn't change much.

I am choosing max. Over the story he has become much smarter and he does not trip as much like in the beginning of the story. I think this is because freak taught him a lot of words, which incouraged him to learn and try to read. Also when freak is ride his shoulders and kicks him to turn, he just automatically does without thinking or hesitating, so doing that for a long time taught him how to be more agile. In chapter one, he said that he tripped a lot because he is so big, but when he met freak he didn't mention tripping at all for the rest of the book.

Max changed through the out the story. In the beginning of the story Max was very isolated he didn't have many friends and kids were making fun of him he wasn't a very happy person. Then when Kevin came he became more fun, kids weren't making as much fun as hips and he finally had a friend

Max has changed a lot. At the beginning of the story Max was uneasy and self conscious with himself. He didn't think that he could do much by himself and he thought that he was stupid. But throughout the book Kevin was in all of his classes with Max. And together they were Freak the Mighty and they were undefeated. Max felt stronger, smarter and better about himself with Kevin. So by the end of the story he had a lot more self confidence.

I choose Max in the begging of the story he was this kid that never tried in his school work he thought he was mean but he was keeping a secret inside his self but when he meet Kevin he started acting different he tried in school and he started acting nice.

Max started out as a "Towering Kicker." But, since he met Freak, he was noticed as Misunderstood. He gave Freak kindness, he even carried Freak on his shoulders.

At the beginning of the story Max was very self conscious of himself. Max didn't have any friends and didn't want any. Blade and his gang would always bully him because of his size, which made him more self conscious.
Max is way different now. He feels like the king of the world. He is so comfortable with himself now. Freak contributed to Max feeling better about himself because Freak has helped Max have more self confidence in himself. He has stood up to blade and told Max he's really not that tough.

Max has no friends in the beginning of the story and freak wants to help him with school because he had trouble reading and freak wants to help, but Max doesn't want to. And finally Max at the fair takes a rist of going across then muddy and gross river. Blade and his gang were going to hurt them with a knife. Max finally knows what a true friend is like. Freak is the brain and Max is the legs.

In the begining Max was all mean and not that nice and was called The Kicker but when Max meet Freak he changed he stuck up for him and he help Freak move around by carrying him on his sholders.

[Dakota]

When max was with his dad he was strangling him and Loretta, then iggy and Kevin came and Kevin came and he helped max when he was getting strangled. So Kevin had a squirt gun and he had dish soap and vinegar and he sprayed Max's dad. Kevin's plans had worked and Max's dad went right to jail. Max was happy that he went back to jail because he didn't want that to happen again. Kevin had gotten more brave what he had to do to Max's dad.

At the beginning of the story Max was really lonely and he had no friends, but then he now he has a friend name Kevin, and they started to be friends in the beginning, he and Kevin was getting bullied by Tony D. And his gang, but in the end of the middle of the story they don't bully him and Kevin anymore and Max is starting to get more nicer and kind to Kevin, because he saw how Kevin is like and he felt bad for Kevin, they were best friends until Kevin died, and when Kevin died he doesn't have any friends anymore, his best friend died, and now he is alone like in the beginning which is sad.

In the beggining Max was a person with no friends ,but ever since Kevin came alomg he started becoming more friendly with Kevin. Max was also a person who thought of himself as dumb and didnt have a brian ,but in the end he did have a brain. He used his chance to write a book in the end about "Freak the Might" and how they came to be.

At the beginning of "Freak the Mighty" Max wasn't to smart. He didn't use big words and he was in the learning disabled classes. He was very self conscious about himself because of this.
Now Max is a lot smarter Freak has assisted in Max's smarts because he told Max if he didn't know a word to look it up in a dictionary. Max also went in the advanced classes with Freak and now is learned a lot more.

Kevin started as a forceful kid who was used to getting his way. He was impatient with Max and was very concious of how smart he was. Like with the ornithopter, he was talking about "installation of a new propulsion unit" and seemed surprised that Max didn't know what that was. He acted like Max was just another one of his tools. However, at the end of the book, Kevin told Max he could write the story. He gave Max a dictionary he would understand, he saved Max from his dad. Kevin began to care more about Max and his family. I think Kevin wouldn't have had to invent his pretend about getting a new body if he had known Max as well at the beginning of the book as he did at the end.

[Dawson]

At the beginning of freak the mighty, Max is mean in the beginning to Kevin. But then in the next chapter they became friends and stood up for freak when blade and his gang is bulling freak.

Max was very shay at the begining and now and now he is not shy but outgoing and he can stand up for himself.

Max was quite when he first met freak and he was if some one bullyed freak in the beginning he would not say anything but at the end of the story he would stand up for him.
