If we list the title sort with "A" and "The" at the end of the main title words, why do shelves still sort by "A" or "The"? Are we not using that sort field?


Elizabeth (Alaska) My shelves seem to sort correctly, though there may be some books where the title sorting is incorrect and needs to be fixed. I'm pretty sure group shelves do not use the title sorting field and therefore, sorts do not work properly on group shelves.

lethe | 16359 comments It may also be that for some editions the title sort field is correctly filled in, but for others it isn't. That can mess up the sorting as well.

Okay, I corrected the sort field for those on my personal shelves and now they are in proper order.

In my group's shelf they are not....just as was predicted.

So now I have my answer.
