Not usually white for Christmas. My parents used to live in a village up in the Highlands of Scotland where it always seemed to start snowing on Christmas Day.

I am the author of "Silent Dawn: Chasing Sunrise" which was just released in October of 2014! It hasn't had a "Fanfare Release" yet, so I am joining lots of groups, to try and boost it's sales. "Silent Dawn: Chasing Sunrise" is available at Books-a-Million, Barnes and Noble and, of course, Amazon, as well as many other sites around the net. I am working on Spanish, French and Japanese versions, because it has been released worldwide, but, at this moment, is only available in English. Other languages, HOPEFULLY, coming soon. My Spanish interpreter read the first chapter and said it scared her too badly to continue, so I'm still shopping. :) Remember to check out "Silent Dawn: Chasing Sunrise"!

I suppose I should have mentioned that it is available through Books-a-Million, Barnes & Noble and Amazon, as well as a few other online stores, as well as B&N physical stores.

What is KDP?Mine is in print, as well as ebooks, Kindle, Nook Book and Epub formats.
I just saw a post from an author, who belongs to a Facebook author's group and he just posted that he had JUST NOW SOLD his ONE MILLIONTH BOOK! WOW! I can hardly wait to be able to post that! AWESOME!
KDP is Kindle Publishing Direct for the ebook :) I chose to enrol in their select program so I could run promotions when my second book comes out next year :)

I read an article, not long ago, about a young man who, when he was 15 years old, wrote a book and sold it for .99 on Amazon, for the ebook. People loved it and since he had them hooked, he wrote a sequel and charged $3.99 and now has written 10 books and has earned . . . are you ready for this? . . . TWO MILLION DOLLARS! ALL from ebooks! That kid's a GENIUS!
That kid is, I, however, would be happy if just one person loved my book as much as I did. All I want (and this sounds SO corny) is for people to love Ilia, Nathaniel and their friends and want to know their story. As authors, we all pour our heart and soul into our books and creating the twists and turns and some of the unique character personalities in Fractured Immortal was challenging but highly enjoyable :)
I agree that the most important thing is the story, but think of the genius. This was a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD BOY, who figured out how to market his books! Of course the story is the MOST important thing and finding an audience is what every author dreams of. This kid figured out exactly how to do that. Of course, now everyone who reads his books like them, but at the .99 cent price point, they figure, "What do I have to lose?"
I am also on KDP and CreateSpace. I use the KDP program to do some promotions. I will probably do a discount right before Christmas. I hope readers fall in love with my characters and their world. :)

Just curious, but why on earth choose a title that's already famous for another book?
Rebecca is the driving character in the story, it never occurred to me not to name the book after her. As for the name itself? You'd have to ask her parents I guess.
Of course you're free to name characters how you wish. But if I were to write a story about an English boy called Hamlet, I would hesitate to call the book Hamlet, however apt I considered it.
I don't know that Rebecca is up there in the same notoriety league as Hamlet or Macbeth or even Harry Potter. But even at a quick glance, I don't think anyone is going to confuse my book for the other one, so no, it didn't bother me at all to keep that name.
Hi, guys! I see the last posts on this thread are from 2014, so I hope you folks are still around! I can't find a very good way to announce that I've posted a new short short on my profile. I think writers of vampire fiction might like it specifically. It's called "Carletta Enters This World." I just re-discovered it in my computer files, a story I had no idea existed, and I made a few improvements. It has the same theme as "Too Familiar for Comfort," but a different twist. Please check it out and tell me what you think. Thanks!

I’ve only 1 book so far, yes with vampires. When I started writing it, several years ago, the idea came from a chat room question.
“Where did the myth of vampires come from?”
I thought and replied that back in the day, rabies may have been responsible.
That led me to look at what would a vampire be if they actually did live amongst us. So, last year published my book with my take on vampires. Every myth has some truth at its core. It’s urban contemporary, a mystery, with vampires at its core.

Sounds interesting, Jeffrey! Yes, I like a more human approach to vampires. It makes them more interesting than the stereotype of the totally evil, unredeemable undead monster. My own stories feature people who wrestle to understand what a vampire really is and the moral ambiguities of dealing with them. I've been working on my series for about 20 years (and this past spring finally completed my first draft of the first book), and I still haven't decided how my vampires originated. So hazzahs to you for your accomplishment!
Followed your link and read the description! I see your book cover shows a vampire that cries blood. Can you tell me where that idea comes from? I'm going to have someone in my book say vampires cry blood for tears, indicating they're not human. Later, my main character has an opportunity to see the vamp in the story cry regular salt tears, and she concludes the vampire is human after all. An answer to my question would help me develop that theme. I also notice the vampire on your cover has paper-white skin. In my stories there are 2 types of vampires, living and undead. The undead have pure white skin like that and can't go out in the daytime. People think these are beyond hope. My live vampires can fit in with normal people more readily and they haven't died. If they die but aren't destroyed, they become the undead kind.
Imagine my surprise when I saw new notifications pop up in here! I admit Jeffrey, it is an unique sounding book!I also do not follow the "completely evil" vampire stereotype either. My vampires can blend in with humans, but if some of them want to is another matter. I have two warring factions of vampires and my books chronicle the struggles of a young woman who learns her destiny is to take down the vampire king.
I don't address the origins of vampires, instead exploring the topics of choice and morality. Kind of funny for a vampire series I guess...

The cover is the character Agate and the ters represent several things but the most important is her fear of what happens when the secret of vampires comes out and the war which will start. My vampires are fully nontraditional but created the traditional myth. Mine are a mutation of anemia.

A stake through the heart would kill almost every animal on the planet. Sleeping in a coffing of dirt is kind of gosh.
Figured I'd mention that as I'm not anything even close to a computer guru, navigation this site is very frustrating for me. I know, prcatice makes perfect. where would I find a list, thread or such about those doing book reviews and or blog interviews? Thanks.

Good point about a stake through the heart, lol. Definitely very interesting take. I don't know if this group does book reviews or blog interviews, but I know there's review groups somewhere. Goodreads Authors/Readers sometimes has bloggers or interviewers on there, and there are two other vampire related groups I'm a part of: My Vampire Book Obsession and Castle Terror. They have threads dedicated for authors as well.
