Dan Brewer | 4 comments Hello,

I added the book "Baby Can Travel: London" to the Goodreads database this morning. When I tried to save it, I was told the ISBN was in use by another one of my books, "Baby Can Travel: Paris". I tried changing the ISBN on the Paris book, but I got an error message saying that ISBN was already in use by my Paris book! haha

The ISBN's for each book are:

Baby Can Travel: London: 9780993985645
Baby Can Travel: Paris: 9780993985638

Can you help make sure the data for each book is accurate?

Thanks!!!

Bea Done.

Elizabeth (Alaska) So why did we delete a book that had been added by people with a different ISBN than the one into which it was merged?

lethe | 16359 comments As I understood it, the author had mixed up the ISBNs when adding?

I didn't look to see if it was the 2 authors who had added the Paris book that got deleted. I just saw that 2 people had added the book and so left it alone for a super or staff to investigate.

lethe | 16359 comments onix had added an edition with the correct (638) ISBN for Paris, the author had added another, separate, edition with the incorrect (645) ISBN.

That's why he got this error message: "I tried changing the ISBN on the Paris book, but I got an error message saying that ISBN was already in use by my Paris book!"

It all makes sense for once :-)

Bea Elizabeth, I did not delete any book. I simply added the ISBN-13 to the London book and confirmed it on the Paris book.

Elizabeth (Alaska) There were two Paris books - I combined them this morning.

lethe | 16359 comments Another librarian merged them. But it was correct, there should only be one copy.

Dan Brewer | 4 comments This is the author - I must have made a mistake when I entered the ISBN for the Paris book.

Everything looks correct now. Thanks for your help.
