Are we counting TV shows based on books?
I'd like to join in. I think I'll go for 4.
Read: 4 of 4; completed
1. Book:
Movie: The House of the Spirits (1993) IMDb
[Read 10/2015| Watched on (?)]
2. Book:
Movie: Don Quixote (2000) IMDb
[Read 11/2015 | Watched on (?)]
3. Book:
Movie: The Magus (1968) IMDb
[Read 10/2015 | Watched on (?)]
* I'm pretty excited to watch the '68 film because John Fowles apparently wrote the screenplay as well and I tend to be an author-adapted movie junkie.
4. Book:
Movie: The Witches (1990) IMDb
[Read on 11/20 | Watched on (?)]
*I think I watched this when I was a kid but I can't remember for sure.

I would like to participate in this quarterly challenge. I will set my goal at 5 books. These are the books I have read so far... Completion: 2/51.) The Book Thief
2.) Insurgent
Sorry I haven't seen many of your questions!I don't see any reason why straight-to-TV-movie shouldn't count. Also, I think it's fair that if you want to count TV shows (like Game of Thrones), you can.
Books that are based off of TV shows (like the books by Richard Castle) aren't quite what we're looking for here, though.
It's a bit late, but I'd like to join this challenge. I have until December 31st, correct? And the quarter started in October which means reading "The Martian" in September doesn't count, right? I think I'll set my goal at reading 4 although I have a list of 7 I'd like to read, I don't know that I'll get to them all before the end of the year. Here is my tentative list to choose from:1. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
2. Brooklyn
3. Into the Forest
4. The 5th Wave
5. Paper Towns
6. Far From The Madding Crowd
7. Z for Zachariah

Read two booksThe Maze Runner
The Witches
Watched the movie The Maze Runner, and the book was definitely better
Tasha, I agree that the book was better, but I have to admit I would never have considered picking up the book if I hadn't seen the movie first. After seeing the movie, though, I immediately went home and purchased the entire set, burning through all of them in a matter of days. Now I eagerly await each movie release! :) I will say, though, that I was a bit disappointed with the handling of "The Scorch" by the movie producers. I felt it left out some of the best parts which could have made the movie better. Have you seen it?
Just completed my first selection - The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I had trouble sinking into this book at the beginning. Part of that had to do with seeing the movie first and part of that was adapting to the language. Once I finally released the movie image in my head, I could commit fully to the book and it got much more entertaining. I don't know why the movie adaptation was altered so much, but the book was definitely better! Definitely worth reading! 4 stars1/5

FROM THE PAGE TO THE SCREENDuration: October 1 - December 31, 2015
Progress: 0/5
For this challenge, simply choose a number of books that have movie adaptations to read during the quarter. Bonus points if you watch the movie - and if you do, tell us what you think of the differences (mark your spoilers, of course).
((IDEAS))
