The setting was typical for a regency gothic type story - the moors of England, wintertime (lots of rain), an isolated castle, a stern and troubled Lord, a creepy lady, secret passages, crying in the cemetery, and a missing relative.
I enjoyed reading the story, but there was nothing special to it.

Sarah, it was on a old railway walking path in Spetisbury. You can get there on a public footpath that goes up the Tumlyn/Afterthoughts driveway across from the pub, then through a pasture, into a fringe of woods - then stairs down to the railway cutting and turn left.

I spooked myself out when we went on our boat holiday last month. We were travelling along the canal through these conifer woods so it was really dark. So quiet. It was an overcast day and a bit chilly. There was this old rickety bridge which went from one side of the forest to the other, crossing the canal and I followed its route in to the forest with my eyes and all of a sudden got goosebumps and got freaked out. I then saw all these ducks sat in the forest which I hadn't noticed before (female ducks have excellent camouflage) and I thought they all had very sinister faces on them. I wish I'd taken a picture. When we traveled back that way on the return journey, I didn't get the same feeling.

Sarah sounds like the opening of "The Blair Witch Project" did you have that movie in England? Maybe you should take up writing screenplays.

I'm watching a movie right now called Grave Halloween. It's set in the suicide forest that was in the book The Three.

It was my first book by Ray Bradbury and I liked it. The book was a little creepy in some places but not much scarry. The prose was too lyrical for me.

The book is about a young man who goes through a lot with his life. And how his life would change in less than 4 weeks. I liked most of the characters, the events were going smooth and nice, liked the idea of the book, but there was something missing in it ! In some parts I felt like I'm reading Harry Potter !
First time I saw the book I thought it was a strange one,the cover and the pictures included were - How to say this! - unusual.
I was expecting to have my breath taking, to capture my heart by the end of the book, but that didn't happen.
It wasn't a bad read at all, but it's not one of my fav for sure!
I think I could live without reading the second one. However, I won't mind bying it if I found it around!

Actually, I read several books this month that fit in with this theme: Anna Dressed in Blood, a ghost story/ romance, which was terrible!, Joe Hill's Locke and Key Series a possession story set in an incredible mansion full of magical keys that turn fantastical locks, as well as my two main books, The Strain a vampire story that read like a zombie story (here's my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...), and Bradbury's classic, Something Wicked This Way Comes - one of the best books I've ever read!
I discussed them in the Spooky Theme Thread, as well as the Something Wicked group read thread.

I read multiple spooky books in October. Heirs of Grace, Dracula, The Pagan Stone, A Head Full Of Knives - A Supernatural Mystery... and it seems like there was another one but I don't feel like going to look it up right now so oh well. lol.
I discussed Heirs and Dracula in the group read and buddy read threads but I can't remember if I discussed the others.
