Annie (annieargyll) I know in the US you can watch the series on Starz. Also, the rights have been bought in Australia and Canada, I believe.

However, so far there is so deal whereas those of us in the UK can watch it. I have even emailed BBC TV to see if there were any plans. They said they judged there would not be enough interest.

Not happy! This series is being filmed only about 50-60 miles from where I live. Hoping that Sony will put it on DVD.

I totally agree. It is hard to take that those of us living where it is set and made may not see it

message 4: by Annie (new)

Annie (annieargyll) Our area only gets Sky and we refuse to sign up with them again as long as it's owned by Rupert Murdoch. We mainly watch Netflix. I am sure it will eventually be sold on DVD but I'm not happy about waiting.

Annie:
I'd look into the Netflix thing. Back when Starz was making the Spartacus series we were able to watch it on Netflix, then Netflix had a falling out with Starz and they stopped showing it.

I'm not sure if they ever resolved the differences.

Have you heard of this?

We are fortunate that we have Starz in our area. I'll order it right before the series starts.

message 6: by Annie (new)

Annie (annieargyll) I looked up Starz to see if I could get it online, but it's US only. Keeping updated on Netflix.

Sara (saragr) | 96 comments Aw, that really sucks for the UK viewers! How could they think it wouldn't have enough interest??

message 8: by Vanessa Eden (new)

Vanessa Eden Patton (vanessaeden) | 549 comments Have they ever released an air date yet?

message 9: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 155 comments No release date yet. :(

The BBC is moronic if they don't think there will be interest, maybe it will end up on another channel? There is still hope!

Maddie Hoy | 2 comments I don't understand why a Scottish independent station hasn't picked it up. I'm not into conspiracy theories, but I did see a comment about whether it has something to do with the referendum i.e. would really stir up anti-union sentiments. It will be interesting to see if announcements are made for screening after September.

I haven't seen anything about the independence referendum being the reason. There is really only STV here in Scotland that could show it and so far nothing.

Natalia (natilia) | 18 comments If you are concerned, we have left to us who live in Latin America. Here we also we bite our nails for not knowing that channel debut Outlander, especially the release date approaches. :S

message 14: by Joann (new)

Joann Dunnavant | 10 comments We live on a college campus, and they recently changed our service. We have free basic cable that used to allow us to just pay an additional cost for premium channels. But now we have to pay $65 a month, plus $99 for installation, plus $17 a month just to get Starz. Being that my husband is a student, that simply won't work for us.
I was elated that the first episode was available. Does anyone know of any other means of getting access to the show? Amazon? Netflix?

Shawn | 247 comments Make friends with someone who has Starz and bring the popcorn!!!

message 16: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Netflix might be an option, but probably not until 2016

message 17: by Kerry (new)

Kerry | 3 comments I don't have cable. I plan to drive 2 hours to my Mom's every weekend to see it. She is in central Illinois. I am in St. Louis, MO area. Anyone in the US in this area want to set up an Outlander night?

Got all excited for nothing. Can't access it in the UK. :( Thanks anyway.

Jessica (jessthereader) | 3 comments I don't want to spend the money to subscribe to Starz just for the Outlander series, I have no idea if I have to sign a contract, or even if I can get it. They should at least put it on hulu, otherwise I might have to wait and buy it if/when it comes out on DVD. I just watched the first episode free, irritates me I might have to wait a year

message 21: by H-W (new)

H-W | 1 comments This website is good, but you will need ADBlocker on your browser.

They usually have the new episode uploaded the day after it aired.

I would call your cable provider to find out what your options are. You should be able to add Starz and then remove it when the series is over (just by calling - it's all digital). Starz has assumed the financial burden of making a well-made show...we can either support Starz by subscribing or wait. If you would rather not pay money, then you shouldn't complain about waiting.

I feel bad for those with no options to watch in their country!!! :(

And, Kerry...it may be less expensive to subscribe to Starz than pay for all of that gas each weekend! :)

message 23: by Shawn (new)

Shawn | 247 comments I agree with adding Starz to your cable plan if only for a month as they incurred all the cost of producing a well made show after all. Even if you wait a bit add the channel watch the eight episodes on demand then cancel. I have the channel as part of my cable package and am able to DVR lots of great movies to watch too. Outlander just seals the deal for me. If not find a friend who has it and join them otherwise wait for the DVD. If you live near Carlsbad California you are always welcome to come watch it with me! (as long as you don't talk during the show!!)

message 24: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Starz advertised for $7 a month for six months a day before the show aired. There is no issue with starting it and stopping. I am paying for two months and canceling until the second 8 episodes air. But since Starz paid all of the money to produce the series I will pay them to watch it. No one complains about HBO series. Just saying.

message 25: by Cindi (new)

Cindi | 6 comments We are paying $13.79 a month, we will be cancelling after the 8 episodes and restarting when the next 8 episodes start, then cancelling again until the next season (if it gets renewed). So when you think about it, it's a little bit more the cost of going out to a movie once per month. I think it's well worth that!!!

Problem is, I don't have cable. What I think I'll do is either find it online somewhere, or buy the season when it comes out. Or both

message 27: by Dawn (new)

Dawn According to Starz you can watch the episodes online.

Brizo (brizosdream) | 320 comments Susan wrote: "Makes Absolutely no Sense Why The BBC UK is not on The Outlander Bandwagon or whatever Channel... Of course There is Imterest!!!! Susan VT...."

I'm sure it will eventually get world wide distribution, but like when we get BBC shows in America it's usually a year or so after they've been released in the UK. There is also a cost factor, as I'm sure the producers will get more for it once it's a proven success here in the US. So if you can't get it just search on google, I'm sure a lot of rogue sites will be putting up pirated copies, they always do. I don't like advocating that as I think the producers deserve to make their profit for production, however I know it's the reality of the internet today and you can see anything you want online, even if it's not available in your country.

message 30: by Zoey (new)

Zoey (rozannen) | 229 comments Premieres here in Aus tonight on SoHo (Foxtel) at 8.30pm. Approximately 13 hours to go :)

message 31: by Sally (new)

Sally (larwos) | 30 comments Here in Aus. We've been able to watch the preview on Foxtel Go so I've seen it on my iPad. Now to watch it on the big TV tonight. We have IQ, so I'm recording the series, then when my daughter arrives from the UK, I and my three girls will have an Outlander Marathion.

Caroline | 2 comments Sadly we don't have starz here in Germany but there is an alternative way how to watch it (email me I will try to respond in the evenings) YAY!!!

I wish you all lots of fun watching :-D

Unfortunately you have to have Starz on your cable lineup or know someone who does and will share with you, then they have what is called Starz Play online so you can watch the episodes on any device.

Verizon had a good deal on Starz (1/2 price for a year) which was about $9.99/mo. or $120/year) I though it worth while.. But you have to live in the US and in an area where Verizon does the cable.. Other cable
carriers are probably offering similar deals if you check with them.

If you're outside the US search on Google someone is bound to post an illegal copy they always do.

Thank you for the information, Brizo. I think we'll just purchase Starz for the 8 episodes, cancel and pick it up again for the next 8 and so on, it's not too expensive to do it that way and I'm splitting the costs with my Mom who has cable (I don't) so it works out for both of us. I don't mind paying for it, it's worth the money, but I don't really watch tv at all, I prefer to just purchase DVD's of a series I'm interested in after they are available. But I do not have the patience to wait so long for this one.

message 35: by Liz (new)

Liz Lynch | 1 comments Suggestion to Starz: Let me watch on demand from your site without adding your channel to my cable package. We have basic cable. We will always have only basic cable. But I would pay by the series to watch on a mobile device. it's not that I don't want Starz. I just don't want to rest of the stuff that comes along with it.

Has anyone successfully found Outlander on Hulu, Netflix or Amazon? Maybe I am just missing it?

message 36: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catherinemb) I'm in the US and don't have Starz. BUT, I do have cable through Comcast (Xfinity) and all the episodes so far have been available for free On Demand the day after they air. I don't know how long that will last and I'm sure they'll pull the plug on that soon. I'll have to see how much they charge per episode, if they continue to be available, compared to how much it'll be to upgrade and get Starz.

ugh. I'm hooked though! Gotta have my Claire and Jamie!

message 37: by Jena (new)

Jena (outlanderfan74) | 49 comments I imagine/HOPE-and-PRAY that Starz will sell these episodes somewhere soon, either ITunes, Amazon, etc. I can't imagine anything with this much popularity would be allowed to fade away between seasons. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but owning this TV series just seems like a given.

I agree and I do not have cable either anymore. I watch on the internet for free. I do feel a bit guilty because I feel STARZ deserves the money for such an awesome production. I am just not going to get cable for one show. If I could pay Starz to watch each episode I would but until then I will watch bootleg for free.

message 39: by Zoey (new)

Zoey (rozannen) | 229 comments Its available on iTunes in Australia. Is it not in the US. Wonder why that is??
Each episode is available for download on the Friday morning after it airs on TV here on the Thursday night. Its about $3-4 an epsiode or approximatly $40 for the season

message 40: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1360 comments WOW not bad I would do that easily.
