This is the second book in the Malazan Empire by Ian C. Esslemont and of course our last experience of Esslemont's work wasn't perhaps as wonderful as I would have liked, but I am willing to give him another go in the hopes of liking the story and seeing the impact it has on the Erikson plotline. I've heard there's a few crossovers and maybe some contradictions so I am intrigued, seeing as this is 1,000pgs too I hope it's better than the last!
