I think Meyer gradually improved in her writing, you can definitely see in each of the sequels

I feel that it was good of Carlisle to explain to Bella about the reason why Edward doesn't want to change her into a vampire. I too want to slap Edward for his stubborn behaviour. I understand Edward's decision of leaving Bella but letting her wander in the forest like that isn't really what I expected from him and I'm disappointed.
I just don't understand why people say that Bella becomes too whiny because whining is a big part of teenage behaviour. But, I admit that I might have reacted differently in her situation like going to Jacksonville rather than sticking around in Forks and trying to forget him by taking up new things or doing things I love rather than worrying that I will forget him.
I'm surprised that Charlie waited for months for Bella to really come back. Shouldn't he have tried it a bit earlier?
I think Bella had gone crazy when she started walking towards some drunk guys. But, Edward's voice intrigued me.
Bella's decision to be reckless indirectly helped her to forget Edward and I really liked to see her original self with Jacob.
As for Jacob, I liked him instantly. Even Billy doesn't seem that bad this time as he was in the first book. Mike and Angela are really good friends, but Lauren and Jess are those gossipy types I absolutely hate.
Guys, a question just popped in my head. If you could have some great vampire power like Edward and Alice, what would it be?

Okay, awesome! I am going to start it today (yep, I'm that far behind!). There are 24 chapters so I'll plan to definitely read 1 chapter a day or more if I have time. If I do 1 chapter, I'll be finished on November 8.

(view spoiler)[ I really thought that Laurent is a good vampire. Not as good as the Cullens, but not bad as well. I didn't think that he would assist Victoria. So, Laurent coming to "check on" Bella wasn't what I expected.
Well, now I get what the fuss is all about. I mean why most people don't enjoy this book much.
Actually, Charlie was right. Bella really NEEDS a doctor. She JUMPED off a cliff in stormy weather. IS SHE MAD? She could at least wait for Jacob to come.
I don't get why she is blurring the line between friendship and love even when she knows that this isn't right. Leading on Jacob when she is still not able to stop loving Edward is not good.
I don't understand one thing, though. Jacob told Bella that Sam was the first werewolf. I mean that Sam didn't have anyone to make this changing process easier for him. He was alone in this. So does Jacob mean that all these years when the Cullens were in Forks there was no werewolf at all? I mean there is no mention of anybody else or maybe it's that I missed the explanation. I really enjoyed the book but what made me cut off one star was that Bella was acting like an idiot when she jumped off the cliff. She felt guilty but I didn't get *real* guilty vibes from her. Anyway, the ending made up for all this idiocy. :)
