Our October Book of the Month is Vanished by Kendra Elliot. We hope you'll join us as we read & discuss this book. This will become a Spoiler Zone on Oct. 15.

When eleven-year-old Henley Fairbanks is abducted on her way to school, the FBI doesn’t waste a moment, sending agents to scour the area and embedding Special Agent Ava McLane with the distraught family. In the eye of the storm is local detective Mason Callahan, who also happens to be related to Henley. To make matters worse for Mason, the kidnapping comes on the heels of the murder of his longtime confidential informant, and he’s been sidelined from the investigation. Now both he and Agent McLane are holed up in the Fairbanks’ home, along with Callahan’s ex-wife, Robin. Every second counts in a kidnapping case, and the stakes keep rising the longer Henley stays missing. As Ava and Mason struggle to hold the Fairbanks family together in their darkest hour, the two investigators find themselves more and more drawn to each other.

I have finished the kindle and audible versions.
The audiobook is well narrated and very good for anyone interested in that format.

I like it enough to order the second in the series.

I enjoyed the first book so much I got them all with audible included through Kindle Unlimited.

We have discovered that this series, Callahan & McLane, is a spin off of another series by author Kendra Elliot called Bone Secrets. There are characters that cross over from the Bone Secrets series into Vanished & the rest of the books in this series, including the character Mason Callahan. Jonetta & I wanted you to have this information so that if you plan on reading the Bone Secrets series at any future time, you will know not to read the Callahan & McLane series now as it reveals several spoilers. If you do not plan to read the Bone Secrets series any time in the future, then there's no issue with reading Vanished and joining in this buddy read. Neither Jonetta nor I will be reading Vanished at this time as we both plan to read the previous series, Bone Secrets, at some point.

For those of you who have already read Vanished, I'm sorry that we did not have this information for you earlier. Since you've already read it, feel free to discuss the book here if you like.

The question now is: What book does everyone want to read as our October Book of the Month. There are a couple of options:

1) Read & discuss Thread of Fear - the book that was #2 on our Poll

2) Read & discuss the first book of the Bone Secrets series Hidden

*Please respond in this thread by indicating option 1 or option 2 by Wednesday, Oct. 7. We will go with what the majority chooses as our October Book of the Month.

**(Info from the author: The BONE SECRETS NOVELS: HIDDEN, CHILLED, BURIED, ALONE, and VEILED (a novella.) KNOWN coming JAN 2016.

The CALLAHAN & McLANE novels are a spin-off of the Bone Secrets books. VANISHED, BRIDGED, SPIRALED, and a fourth coming Summer 2016.)

I tried to find more info where we might have avoided this situation but the author's website doesn't provide a clue, nor does Goodreads. A friend who's read both series alerted me when she saw my update regarding this book. Knowing I'm manic about reading in order....

I've added a note to the series page indicating it's connected to Bone Secrets.

There was no indication on Amazon either. I have a couple in the Bones series and would have read that first had there been a clue

I will probably do the Bones series if it is in KU with narration. I did enjoy the Vanished series so I can't complain.

I have read Hidden and found it okay. I think it is the author's debut novel. The Vanished series is much better
