Jonathan | 1 comments The Folio Society edition of The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler was, I believe, published as a single novel but was also included in their seven book Chandler boxed set. Should it therefore have the same format description as the rest of the boxed set (which were not published individually) "Hardcover, part of 7 volume boxed set of Philip Marlowe novels"? Or should it be listed twice, one as a part of the boxed set and another as the standalone publication?

If it was published both ways, it is probably 2 editions, not one. Probably with 2 ISBNs -- one for the set, and one for the individual volume.

Only the latter should have an entry separate from that of the set.

lethe | 16361 comments In the Folio Society Bibliography 1947-1996, The Big Sleep is only mentioned as part of the boxed set The Complete Novels.

The Folio Society, being a book club of sorts, does not use ISBNs in their editions.
